Description
Industry 5.0 Benchmark is an integrated research and technology project that turns the European Union’s human-centric, sustainable and resilient Industry 5.0 vision into evidence, assessment and practical improvement. Its governed Framework defines what should be examined; SyncFrame connects relevant standards and policies; the Sustin Evidence Intelligence Engine organises multi-source evidence and identifies gaps; and the customer-facing i5 Readiness Mapper helps organisations understand their position and act on the findings. As evidence and validation mature, i5Index will support transparent sector, city and regional comparisons.
The project brings organisational information, operational records, public evidence and the lived experience of workers, users and communities into a traceable evidence process. AI assists evidence handling and mapping, while accountable people review material conclusions. As an SDG Acceleration Action, i5Benchmark links target-level commitments with baselines, evidence, responsible actors, beneficiaries, improvement actions and outcome status. Its strongest direct contributions concern SDGs 8, 9, 10, 12, 16 and 17, while sector and place-based profiles activate relevant pathways across the other Goals. The aim is to show whether technological and industrial progress creates genuine and fairly distributed value for people, society and the planet.
Industry 5.0 Benchmark (i5Benchmark) is an integrated research, technology and implementation project for human-centred industrial transformation. It combines a governed benchmark framework, an evidence-intelligence infrastructure and user-facing assessment tools to help organisations understand their Industry 5.0 position, assemble credible evidence, identify material gaps and convert findings into practical improvement pathways.
i5Benchmark is grounded in the European Union’s pioneering Industry 5.0 vision of a human-centric, sustainable and resilient industry. The project extends the practical reach of that vision through international standards, cross-cultural interpretation and evidence from affected people and real-world practice. It also creates a reciprocal learning route through which experience from different regions can strengthen European research, methods and implementation.
The project consists of connected layers:
- The i5Benchmark Framework provides the definition, domains, principles, requirements architecture, evidence logic, assessment methodology and governance needed for consistent and accountable evaluation.
- SyncFrame provides the standards and policy interoperability layer, connecting relevant legal, sustainability, governance, responsible-innovation and reporting frameworks without treating partial overlap as automatic equivalence.
- The Sustin Evidence Intelligence Engine is the project’s AI-assisted technology layer. It structures and compares fragmented evidence, maintains provenance and time context, detects gaps and contradictions, supports framework mapping and prepares explainable findings for human review.
- The i5 Readiness Mapper is the customer-facing application. It guides organisations through evidence preparation and assessment, produces readiness profiles and benchmark views, identifies priority gaps and supports owned, time-bound improvement actions.
- i5Index is the planned aggregate intelligence layer. As the evidence base and validation mature, it will support carefully governed comparisons across organisations, sectors, cities and regions without detaching results from their scope, evidence quality, method version or cultural context.
The shared evidence workspace is designed to bring together organisation-provided documents, policies and disclosures; operational and incident records; worker, user and community experience; public records and lawfully accessible public information; research and technical evidence; and authorised third-party data. Where public experience signals are used, evidence from several sources can be compared to reduce dependence on a single platform or stakeholder group. Source identity, collection time, scope and relevant snapshots or extracts are retained where lawful and proportionate, allowing users and reviewers to trace how a conclusion was formed.
The Evidence Intelligence Engine assesses evidence quality through factors such as provenance, recency, relevance, independence, assurance, contradiction and confidence. AI can assist extraction, classification, synthesis, standards mapping and gap detection. Material conclusions remain subject to accountable human review, stated limitations and an accessible route for correction or challenge. Organisational claims, source evidence, analytical findings and improvement actions are stored as distinct records.
The assessment baseline contains three Core Domains and two Enabling Domains:
- Human Experience examines rights, health, safety, wellbeing, dignity, agency, inclusion, capabilities and opportunity in the experience of affected people.
- Sustainable Practices examines environmental burdens, resource use, ecological limits, circularity and restorative or regenerative practice.
- Resilience & Adaptability examines continuity, recovery, learning and adjustment to disruption and long-term change without transferring unacceptable risks or vulnerability.
- Responsible Innovation examines whether technologies and material changes are necessary, responsibly selected, designed, tested and supported by appropriate capabilities, resources and operations.
- Accountability examines who answers for decisions, claims, impacts and value distribution, and whether affected parties can obtain explanation, scrutiny, correction and remedy.
A Cultural Grounding & Contextual Legitimacy Layer operates across all five domains. It asks whether commitments are locally intelligible, relevant to actual social and ecological conditions, shaped through legitimate participation, compatible with rights and safety, and transparent about the provenance and interpretation of knowledge and data.
Contribution to SDG acceleration
i5Benchmark provides an implementation and evidence mechanism for the Sustainable Development Goals. It translates relevant SDG targets into context-specific commitments, links those commitments to evidence and responsible actors, identifies gaps and improvement actions, and follows whether the intended change is experienced in practice. Its contribution is therefore recorded at target level rather than inferred from a general sustainability claim.
The project makes its strongest, framework-level contribution through the following Goals and targets:
- SDG 8 — Decent Work and Economic Growth: Human Experience and Responsible Innovation bring decent work, safe and secure working environments, workforce agency and the distribution of productivity gains into technology assessment. The principal links are Targets 8.2, 8.4, 8.5 and 8.8. Evidence may include work design, health and safety, worker experience, skills, access to opportunity, resource productivity and how value or risk is distributed.
- SDG 9 — Industry, Innovation and Infrastructure: the Framework supports inclusive and sustainable industrialisation, responsible technological upgrading, research capacity and infrastructure renewal through Targets 9.2, 9.4, 9.5 and 9.b. The i5 Readiness Mapper helps organisations connect innovation decisions with environmental performance, human benefit, resilience, evidence quality and implementation capability.
- SDG 10 — Reduced Inequalities: shared-value analysis, affected-stakeholder evidence and contextual legitimacy support social and economic inclusion and the reduction of discriminatory outcomes under Targets 10.2 and 10.3. Assessments examine who benefits, who is excluded and who carries costs or risks, using disaggregated evidence where lawful and appropriate.
- SDG 12 — Responsible Consumption and Production: Sustainable Practices, evidence interoperability and improvement tracking support resource efficiency, waste prevention, responsible organisational practice and credible sustainability information under Targets 12.2, 12.5, 12.6, 12.8 and 12.a. The platform can connect operational evidence with commitments and monitor whether improvement actions produce measurable change.
- SDG 16 — Peace, Justice and Strong Institutions: Accountability and the evidence-governance model support effective and transparent institutions, participatory decision-making and access to information under Targets 16.6, 16.7 and 16.10. Traceable sources, explainable findings, recorded dissent and routes for challenge, correction and remedy are built into the project design.
- SDG 17 — Partnerships for the Goals: SyncFrame interoperability, international research exchange, capacity-building and the Global Core/profile model contribute to Targets 17.6, 17.9, 17.14, 17.16, 17.17, 17.18 and 17.19. The project enables knowledge and technology cooperation, policy coherence, multi-stakeholder implementation, better use of disaggregated evidence and measures of progress that extend beyond financial output.
Further SDG contributions are activated by the subject and context of an assessment:
- SDGs 1 and 2: assessments involving employment, essential services, food systems or vulnerable communities can examine social protection, access to resources and technology, livelihood resilience and sustainable food production, particularly Targets 1.3, 1.4, 1.5, 2.3 and 2.4.
- SDG 3: Human Experience and Resilience & Adaptability can examine occupational and community health, mental wellbeing, pollution-related harm and preparedness for health risks under Targets 3.4, 3.9 and 3.d.
- SDG 4: capacity-building, Industry 5.0 skills and education for sustainable development support Targets 4.4 and 4.7, including human rights, global citizenship and appreciation of cultural diversity.
- SDG 5: disaggregated evidence, non-discrimination, participation and responsible technology design can support Targets 5.1, 5.5 and 5.b.
- SDGs 6 and 7: relevant industrial, urban and service assessments can address water quality and efficiency and cleaner, more efficient energy use through Targets 6.3, 6.4, 7.2 and 7.3.
- SDG 11: city, venue and public-service applications can support participatory planning, reduced urban environmental impact, inclusive public space and urban resilience under Targets 11.3, 11.6, 11.7 and 11.b.
- SDG 13: sustainability and resilience evidence, improvement planning and capacity-building can support climate adaptation, integration and awareness under Targets 13.1, 13.2 and 13.3.
- SDGs 14 and 15: where operations or value chains materially affect marine or terrestrial ecosystems, Sustainable Practices can examine pollution, ecosystem resilience, biodiversity and integration of ecological values into decisions under Targets 14.1, 14.2, 14.a, 15.1, 15.5 and 15.9.
Each profile will distinguish a direct contribution, an enabling contribution, a context-dependent contribution and a target that is outside the assessment scope. For every contribution claimed, the system will record the relevant target, commitment, responsible actor, baseline, evidence, action, beneficiary, time period and outcome status. This preserves the project’s capacity to work across all 17 SDGs while preventing equal or automatic attribution where the evidence supports only a narrower contribution.
The project’s consensus-to-improvement cycle is to discover common concerns; form contextual consensus; translate that consensus into actionable commitments; implement action and disclose how value is distributed; assemble evidence and make accountable judgements; and use the findings to reinforce fulfilment, remedy harm and renew commitments. Technology and productivity are considered through the human, social and ecological value they create, the distribution of that value and the risks or exclusions that accompany it.
The platform can support private organisational workspaces and inspectable public profiles. Organisations may use the private environment to prepare evidence, examine weaknesses and manage improvement before choosing what may lawfully be disclosed. Public profiles can present attributable evidence, assessment scope, data status, limitations and dated results. Periodic or event-triggered synthesis can help organisations and public bodies detect emerging concerns and receive prioritised recommendations. Public-facing outputs will distinguish assessed information from independently verified information, and mapped requirements from certification or legal compliance.
Initial applications include cities and public authorities, hospitality, retail, venues, education institutions, SMEs, public-facing services and industrial ecosystems. Outputs may include an Industry 5.0 readiness profile, evidence inventory, provenance and confidence information, benchmark dashboard, material-gap analysis, prioritised actions, progress tracking and evidence-based reports. Later aggregate applications may provide sector, urban and regional intelligence and support research, programme management and responsible investment analysis.
Framework Version 2.0 and Foundational Design Charter Draft 0.9, dated 1 September 2026, establish the proposed public baseline for external review and future formal adoption. The public project website and early product experience are available; the Sustin Evidence Intelligence Engine v0 and i5 Readiness Mapper remain under active development and pilot preparation. The project does not currently offer accredited certification, statutory assurance, regulated credit scoring or legal-compliance determinations.
The action is stewarded by Sustainable Intelligence ASBL, Belgium, which leads public-interest research, framework development, methodology and governance. SUSTIN C.I.C., United Kingdom, leads technology development and practical implementation. The shared architecture allows the public-interest framework to evolve through governed research while supporting scalable applications, organisational subscriptions, programme and portfolio use, and future data or API services.
i5Benchmark is expected to improve the quality of decisions made before, during and after industrial and technological change. It gives organisations a repeatable way to connect public commitments and internal policies with operational evidence, the experience of affected people, responsible actors and time-bound improvement work. The intended result is not a larger volume of sustainability claims, but clearer evidence of what changed, for whom, over what period and with what remaining limitations.
For workers, technology users, service users and communities, the project is expected to make rights, safety, wellbeing, agency, inclusion and lived experience more visible in organisational assessment. Evidence from affected people can reveal harms, exclusions or unequal value distribution that conventional reporting may miss. The Framework's accountability provisions are intended to strengthen explanation, correction, challenge and remedy when a material finding affects them.
For organisations, the Evidence Intelligence Engine and i5 Readiness Mapper are expected to reduce fragmentation between policies, operational records, stakeholder evidence, standards and SDG commitments. They will help users identify weak or contradictory evidence, prioritise material gaps, assign responsibility and follow improvement actions over time. This should support more credible decision-making, better preparedness for disruption and a more disciplined approach to responsible innovation, without presenting a mapped result as certification or legal compliance.
For cities, public authorities, programme operators and sector networks, governed aggregation can provide a more timely view of recurring needs, implementation barriers and emerging risks. Subject to sufficient evidence quality and comparability, i5Index may support place-based and sector-level learning while retaining the scope, context, method version and limitations behind each result.
For research, policy and standards communities, the project is expected to provide an interoperable evidence structure for examining how Industry 5.0 principles work across sectors and cultural settings. EU and UK implementation profiles can establish an initial reference point, while evidence from other regions can identify assumptions, gaps and adaptations that strengthen both international implementation and European research and practice.
The project's principal framework-level SDG effects concern SDGs 8, 9, 10, 12, 16 and 17: decent and safe work; responsible industrial innovation; reduced exclusion and unequal impacts; resource-efficient and accountable production; transparent and participatory institutions; and international knowledge, technology and implementation partnerships. Sector- and place-specific applications can support targets under the other Goals where a material relationship is established. Each claimed contribution will be linked to a specific SDG target, baseline, responsible actor, intended beneficiary, evidence route, action, implementation period and outcome status. This allows the project to test whether a stated alignment has become an implemented and evidenced contribution.
By 2030, the intended project-level results are a governed public benchmark and Charter; an operational Evidence Intelligence Engine and i5 Readiness Mapper; validated implementation profiles and bounded pilots; reusable capacity-building resources; and, where evidence maturity permits, a responsibly governed aggregate intelligence layer. Progress will be assessed through evidence quality and coverage, participation by affected stakeholders, completion and effectiveness of improvement actions, correction and challenge records, changes in human, social and ecological outcomes, and the quality of target-level SDG contribution evidence. Unsupported or inconclusive effects will be reported as such.
Implementation follows a staged research-to-product pathway.
Phase 1 — Foundation and early methodology (November 2022–2025): The Global Sustainability SyncFrame established the initial standards-synchronisation direction. Research and engagement developed the Industry 5.0 Guidelines and clarified the need to connect human experience, sustainability, resilience, responsible innovation and accountability through an evidence-based approach.
Phase 2 — Framework and public product baseline (2026): The project is being consolidated under Industry 5.0 Benchmark. Framework Version 2.0 and Foundational Design Charter Draft 0.9 define the public baseline. The project website and early MVP communicate the product pathway. Work includes the evidence architecture, five-domain model, contextual-legitimacy layer, standards interoperability model, controlled document structure, target-level SDG contribution architecture and early i5 Readiness Mapper experience.
Phase 3 — Evidence infrastructure and initial validation (late 2026–2027): Development will advance the Sustin Evidence Intelligence Engine from v0 towards a usable first release and connect it with a shared, private-by-default evidence workspace. The workflow will support structured uploads and evidence records, public and authorised external sources, stakeholder experience, provenance and versioned snapshots, gap and contradiction detection, framework and SDG-target mapping, human review and improvement planning. Initial validation will target approximately 20–30 passive assessments using public evidence and 2–3 design partners able to compare public-only findings with authorised internal evidence. These are development targets rather than completed traction claims.
Phase 4 — Mapper pilots, profiles and capacity-building (2027–2028): The i5 Readiness Mapper will be piloted with selected organisations in initial use cases such as cities, hospitality, retail, venues, education, SMEs and public-facing services. The project will test readiness profiles, evidence-gap reporting, target-level SDG contribution records, prioritised improvement roadmaps, recurring evidence synthesis and progress monitoring. EU and UK implementation profiles, training resources and pilot protocols will be developed against the common Global Core. Pilot identities and results will be published only with confirmed roles, consent and appropriate limitations.
Phase 5 — Aggregate intelligence and responsible scale-up (2028–2030): Subject to evidence maturity and validation, i5Index will introduce staged organisation, sector, city and regional comparisons. Further national and sector profiles, programme or cohort tools, portfolio views, APIs and benchmark-data services may be developed through governed partnerships. International extension will combine a comparable Global Core with local validation and reciprocal learning.
Across all phases, the operational cycle is: ingest and register evidence; preserve provenance and context; map evidence to governed requirements; assess quality and identify gaps or contradictions; support accountable judgement; provide prioritised recommendations; track actions and new evidence; and update dated profiles without rewriting historical results.
Capacity-building is integrated into the project rather than treated as a separate dissemination activity. Public resources will explain Industry 5.0, the five assessment domains, cultural grounding, evidence quality, stakeholder participation and the relationship between Industry 5.0 and the SDGs. Practical guidance will help organisations define an assessment scope, prepare evidence, understand limitations and convert findings into owned improvement actions.
Planned formats include workshops, training, research and pilot workspaces, implementation guidance, case-study methods, evidence templates, mapping resources, translations and educational materials for organisations, public authorities, researchers, students, practitioners and affected stakeholders. Pilot participants will receive structured support in evidence preparation, interpretation, human review and progress monitoring. Learning from pilots will feed into public guidance and subsequent framework versions.
SDG-focused capacity-building will help participants move from broad Goal selection to target-specific implementation. Training and templates will cover the identification of relevant targets, definition of beneficiaries and baselines, allocation of responsibility, selection of evidence, recording of interlinkages and trade-offs, and follow-up of outcomes. This will allow partners in different regions to retain local priorities while producing contribution records that remain understandable and comparable.
Technology transfer focuses on the responsible application of evidence methods and digital tools. The i5 Readiness Mapper will make the Framework usable by organisations without requiring them to build their own assessment infrastructure. Shared schemas, import templates and later APIs can enable authorised integration with organisational systems, programme platforms and partner services. Access and licensing models will distinguish public-interest Framework materials from proprietary platform functions and will be defined through governance, intellectual-property, privacy, security and sustainability requirements.
International transfer will use a Global Core with validated national, regional or sector profiles. Local participants will help interpret commitments and evidence in their own cultural, legal and operational contexts. Knowledge exchange remains two-way: European Industry 5.0 research and practice support adoption elsewhere, while international cases and affected-stakeholder evidence strengthen European research and implementation.
Training on AI-assisted evidence work will cover source provenance, bias, uncertainty, privacy, limitations of automated synthesis and the need for accountable human judgement. The project will not promote the use of worker monitoring, behavioural data or human sensing for productivity control. Any future use of human-generated or sensor-derived experience evidence must be voluntary, proportionate, purpose-limited and governed by rights, safety and privacy safeguards.
The project is delivered through complementary research, governance and technology capacity in Belgium and the United Kingdom.
Sustainable Intelligence ASBL, Belgium, provides the public-interest and research foundation. Its capabilities include Industry 5.0 research, sustainability and SDG alignment, standards interoperability, responsible innovation, evidence architecture, stakeholder-oriented assessment, cultural and contextual analysis, governance design and international coordination. Its institutional membership in the European Commission’s Industry 5.0 Community of Practice connects the project to an active European research and policy community.
SUSTIN C.I.C., United Kingdom, provides product development and implementation capacity, including digital prototyping, cloud-based evidence workspaces, data and AI-assisted workflows, evidence mapping, user-facing assessment tools and practical deployment. Its membership in NVIDIA Inception supports access to a wider technology-development ecosystem without constituting endorsement or validation.
The combined project assets include the earlier SyncFrame work, the 2025 Industry 5.0 Guidelines, Framework Version 2.0 / Charter Draft 0.9, the five-domain and cultural-grounding architecture, standards and evidence-mapping methods, the public web presence, an early MVP, and the i5 Readiness Mapper and Evidence Intelligence Engine development work.
The initiative is led by a lean cross-border core team and draws on prior academic engagement, European policy and standards participation, international professional networks and technology ecosystems. Additional research, technical and pilot capacity is being developed through formally agreed design partnerships and specialist contributions. External organisations will be presented as partners only where their role and consent are confirmed.
The delivery model can support SME subscriptions, enterprise and multi-entity licences, programme or cohort access and, at a later stage, authorised API and benchmark-data services. These models are intended to sustain the technical infrastructure while keeping the Framework’s public-interest purpose and governance intact.
Coordination is organised across research and methodology, technology and data, implementation and stakeholder participation.
Sustainable Intelligence ASBL maintains the Foundational Design Charter, research programme, requirements architecture, interoperability principles, contribution process and public-interest safeguards. SUSTIN C.I.C. translates governed specifications into the evidence workspace, Evidence Intelligence Engine, i5 Readiness Mapper and supporting digital services. A shared roadmap and version register connect changes in the Framework with changes in data structures, software behaviour and user-facing outputs.
New requirements and mappings move through documented stages: source identification; provenance and rights review; methodological analysis; stakeholder and contextual examination; technical implementation; bounded testing; approval; release; and later review. Each material change receives an owner, status, version, rationale and effective date. Research findings do not automatically become product requirements, and software releases cannot amend the Framework’s foundational commitments.
Pilot and research contributors may provide cases, evidence protocols, mappings, datasets, translations, validation studies or methodological challenge. Their roles, intellectual-property position, data rights, confidentiality obligations, conflicts of interest and publication basis are agreed before their contributions enter a governed instrument or public output. Named partnerships require explicit confirmation and consent.
Affected workers, users and communities participate through structured feedback, contextual interpretation and validation. Dissent and contradictory evidence are retained rather than forced into artificial consensus. Regular project reviews connect stakeholder findings, product performance, evidence quality and implementation learning with the next development cycle.
European and international engagement is designed as reciprocal exchange. EU policy leadership and standards experience inform the Global Core and initial EU and UK implementation profiles; locally grounded cases and evidence from other regions can reveal assumptions, gaps and necessary adaptations and feed those lessons back into European research and implementation.
i5Benchmark is governed through a separation between its stable public-interest foundation, evolving assessment instruments, technical systems and individual assessment records.
The controlled framework suite comprises:
- Foundational Design Charter — definition, purpose, principles, domain architecture, boundaries and non-negotiable methodological commitments.
- Framework Constitution — stewardship, decision rights, adoption and amendment, contribution rules, independence, conflicts of interest, appeals, recognition governance and approval of implementation profiles.
- Methodology Specifications — procedures and data structures for consensus, cultural grounding, evidence, causality, judgement, uncertainty, temporal treatment, validation, human review and challenge.
- Requirement & Mapping Registry — version-controlled requirements, indicators, evidence expectations, judgement rules, improvement routes, source records and edition-specific interoperability mappings.
- Evidence & Rating Layer — assessment-specific evidence, findings, actions, review provenance, audit history and dated user-facing outputs.
The Requirement & Mapping Registry will include an SDG Contribution Record connecting each claimed contribution to a specific Goal and target, the applicable i5Benchmark requirement, responsible actor, intended beneficiary, baseline, evidence route, action and outcome status. This record prevents broad Goal-level labels from substituting for demonstrated contribution.
Every assessment will be bound to a declared subject, scope, implementation profile, evidence period, requirement set and method version. Changes carry an effective date, rationale and migration record, while historical findings remain attached to the method and evidence used at the time. Foundational commitments cannot be altered indirectly through software, indicator or scoring changes.
Evidence governance covers lawful collection, consent and legitimate purpose, data minimisation, source provenance, confidentiality, access control, retention, intellectual property and correction. Private organisational evidence remains private by default. Public profiles and aggregate intelligence use information that may lawfully be disclosed and show their evidence status and material limitations.
AI-assisted processes support evidence handling and analysis. Accountable human review is required for externally relied-upon findings. Users and affected parties must be able to understand the basis of material conclusions and raise corrections or challenges. Organisational claims, evidence, findings, recommendations and any independently verified statements remain visibly distinct.
Sustainable Intelligence ASBL stewards the Framework and public-interest methodology. SUSTIN C.I.C. develops and operates the technology within these governance requirements. Assessment, recognition and commercial services will be organisationally and procedurally separated where independence or conflict safeguards require it.
Evaluation covers the technical system, assessment methodology, user usefulness and real-world effects.
Evidence quality will be examined through coverage, source diversity, provenance completeness, recency, relevance, independence, assurance, contradiction handling and confidence. Multi-source evidence will be assessed for duplication and systematic bias. Dated snapshots or extracts will support reproducibility where their retention is lawful and proportionate.
Technical and analytical performance will be tested through the accuracy of evidence extraction and classification, the quality of framework and standards mappings, the ability to identify material gaps and conflicting evidence, and agreement between AI-assisted outputs and accountable human review. Testing will compare public-only evidence with authorised internal evidence to understand coverage and confidence differences. Model and system limitations will be documented.
Methodological integrity will be evaluated through traceability to normative, empirical and technical, cultural, and lived or local sources; consistency across assessors and versions; effectiveness of the Cultural Grounding & Contextual Legitimacy Layer; visibility of uncertainty; and the operation of correction, challenge and remedy processes.
User value will be assessed through the usability of evidence preparation and assessment, time required to assemble a credible evidence record, clarity of readiness profiles and gap analysis, relevance of recommended actions, completion of owned improvement actions and usefulness of progress tracking. Feedback will be gathered from organisations, practitioners and affected stakeholders during bounded pilots.
Impact will be examined through changes experienced by people, society and ecological systems, including rights, safety, wellbeing, agency, inclusion, environmental burden, resilience and the distribution of additional value, costs and risks. Productivity or technology adoption will not substitute for these outcomes.
SDG acceleration will be evaluated at target level. Each claimed contribution will be classified as direct, enabling or context-dependent and tested against its stated baseline, responsible actor, intended beneficiary, evidence, implementation period and observed outcome. Evaluation will examine whether i5Benchmark helped an organisation move from a general SDG alignment statement to an implemented and evidenced change. The project will report both supported contributions and targets for which evidence remains insufficient or outside scope.
Benchmark and index validity will be tested before wider comparison. Scores or rankings will be released only where evidence maturity, coverage, contextual comparability, method stability and review status support their use. Findings will state scope, evidence period, method version, uncertainty and material limitations, and material safeguards or adverse findings will remain visible.

This update reflects the evolution of the original SyncFrame SDG Acceleration Action into the Industry 5.0 Benchmark.
SyncFrame remains the original framework foundation and synchronisation logic of the project. The updated project title and description clarify the current direction: to develop a dynamic benchmark tool that continuously maps and synchronises global sustainability, ESG, governance, responsible AI and Industry 5.0-related standards into practical readiness indicators, evidence gaps and improvement roadmaps.
The project no longer presents itself as a static standard. Instead, it is positioned as a living benchmark intelligence system and AI-assisted readiness mapping tool for organisations seeking to operationalise Industry 5.0 and SDG-aligned transformation.
This update also reflects the planned development of i5 Readiness Mapper as the first digital application of the Industry 5.0 Benchmark.

Organisational beneficiaries include SMEs, larger enterprises, public-facing service providers, cities and public authorities, education institutions, hospitality and retail operators, venues, industrial sites and value-chain ecosystems. They can use the project to organise fragmented evidence, understand readiness, compare performance within an appropriate context, identify weaknesses and manage credible improvement programmes.
Research, policy and standards communities benefit from a structured link between normative requirements, technical evidence, cultural interpretation and affected-stakeholder experience. Programme operators, accelerators, industry networks and public bodies may use aggregated and appropriately governed information to support cohorts, interventions and policy learning. In later stages, financial and impact stakeholders may use benchmark intelligence as one input to research and decision support, subject to clear limitations and without treating it as a regulated credit rating.
The wider public benefits from more inspectable organisational claims, clearer evidence provenance, greater visibility of who receives the value created by technology and industry, and stronger routes for explanation, correction and remedy.
