About
Natural Resources Forum, a United Nations Sustainable Development Journal, seeks to address gaps in current knowledge and stimulate relevant policy discussions, leading to the implementation of the sustainable development agenda and the achievement of the Sustainable Development Goals. We accept submissions that deliver cutting edge research, which integrates the social, economic, and environmental dimensions of sustainable development. We quarterly publish articles that are original, scientifically strong and policy relevant and may inform policymakers through pragmatic, science-based lessons learned from experiences at the local, national and global levels. To ensure inclusivity in research and policy perspective, we especially encourage articles authored by women and underrepresented members of the global scholarly community. More details on NRF, including the contents of recent issues, can be found on the website of the journal's publisher, Wiley-Blackwell.

Call for Papers for a Special Issue on Oceans
Deadline for Submission: 15 January 2025
Oceans, seas and coastal areas form an integrated and essential component of our planet’s ecosystem and are critical to sustainable development. Due to pollution, overfishing, and the effects of climate change, the Earth’s waters are under threat as never before. Deeply alarmed by the global emergency facing the ocean, the international community is determined to undertake rapid and coordinated action to improve its health, productivity, sustainable use and resilience. To this end, the UN General Assembly decided to convene the high-level 2025 United Nations Conference to Support the Implementation of Sustainable Development Goal 14: Conserve and sustainably use the oceans, seas and marine resources for sustainable development in France, in June 2025. The overarching theme of the Conference is: “Accelerating action and mobilizing all actors to conserve and sustainably use the ocean.
Aiming to further accelerate global action towards sustainable ocean management by leveraging progress made while mobilizing all stakeholders to work in a spirit of collaboration and solidarity, the third UN Ocean Conference will build upon the achievements and commitments made during the previous UN Ocean Conferences held in New York in 2017 and Lisbon in 2022.
In view of the upcoming UN 2025 Ocean Conference, the Natural Resources Forum, A United Nations Sustainable Development Journal (NRF) calls for papers for a special issue, welcoming contributions that highlight the groundbreaking research and science-based policy relevant discussions in key areas designated as the theme of the conference: “Accelerating action and mobilizing all actors to conserve and sustainably use the ocean.”
The NRF editorial team will give priority to articles that focus on applied research and/or case studies, particularly those relating to SDG 14, emphasizing its specific targets and leveraging the interlinkages with other Goals.
It should be indicated in your correspondence that manuscripts are being submitted for the special issue. Please also check the respective box “for special issue” on the submission platform.
