Description
The Global Youth Ambassadors Program (GYAP) is a volunteering action initiated by LEEG-Net with the objective of empowering youth activists to become change-makers in achieving sustainability including the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) through the human rights pathway.
LEEG-Net (Legal and Economic Empowerment Global Network – https://www.leeg-net.org/) is a global pro-bono partnership for the SDGs - #SDGAction40617. Having founded in January 2017 by a multidisciplinary expert team across different geographies, LEEG-Net collaborates with UN Member States to help accelerate the SDGs through a human rights-based approach. The GYAP is governed, funded and followed-up by LEEG-Net.
Goals of GYAP:
1. To inspire young leaders to gain knowledge and experience in the cross-disciplinary application of human rights focused on the United Nations 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development as a case in point;
2. To unite like-minded youth from around the world to act as advocates for advancing “sustainability through human rights” and thereby to help accelerate the SDGs; and
3. To empower youth to lead community, national and/or global projects to address climate change, environmental pollution, biodiversity degradation, the rising levels of poverty and inequality, etc by striking the right balance between sustainability and human rights.
Eligibility of candidates:
• Have a passion for volunteering in projects promoting sustainability and human rights
• Be an undergrad or graduate interested in multidisciplinary learning
• Age between 18 - 30 years at the time of sending the application
• Be a resident in one of the UN Member States

All candidates will gain knowledge and understanding of the United Nations 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development, its interlinkages with human rights and the relevance of applying a human rights-based approach to implement the SDGs.
During this program, all candidates are expected to collaborate with at least one institution implementing the SDGs in their community, state or country. They will observe how SDGs are implemented by the selected institution(s) and engage in a productive dialogue on the importance of adopting a human rights-based approach to advancing the SDGs.
Benefits:

The new action (GYAP) is based on the fact that a human rights-based approach (HRBA), which is one of the six Guiding Principles of the United Nations Sustainable Development Cooperation Framework, is fundamental to accelerating the SDGs.
One goal of the GYAP is to unite like-minded youth from around the world to act as advocates for advancing “sustainability through human rights” and thereby to help accelerate the SDGs. All candidates will gain knowledge and understanding of the United Nations 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development, its interlinkages with human rights and the relevance of applying a human rights-based approach to implement the SDGs. They are expected to collaborate with at least one institution implementing the SDGs in their community, state or country, and engage in a productive dialogue on the importance of adopting a human rights-based approach to accelerate the SDGs.
