MY World Mexico is a citizen-driven initiative established in 2014 in Jalisco, Mexico. Through five programmes, we focus on empowering citizens and organizations for involvement in implementation, monitoring, financing, follow-up, socialization and evaluation of the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development and the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs): + MY World Mexico Kids: A schools'-led programme focused on learning and advocacy for children in sustainable development. + Mentorship Programme: 4-month specialized and in-depth training on SGDs for stakeholders from local governments, academia, private and public sector. + Campaigns Programme: Massive mobilization campaigns throughout the year focused on SDG key mechanisms/moments. + Knowledge Hub: Programme providing tools for all stakeholders for SDG implementation. + Accelerators Programme: Selection of Ambassadors (between 18-65) and Member Organizations to be part of MY World Mexico annually.
The five programmes run through out the year (running since 2016): + MY World Mexico Kids: A schools'-led programme focused on learning and advocacy for children in sustainable development: - 4 team members + 15 schools from 6 states in Mexico. + Mentorship Programme: 4-month specialized and in-depth training on SGDs for stakeholders from local governments, academia, private and public sector. - More than 200 participants from 20 states in Mexico and from across sectors. + Campaigns Programme: Massive mobilization campaigns throughout the year focused on SDG key mechanisms/moments. - More than 30 successful campaigns with the involvement of more than 100,000 people. + Knowledge Hub: Programme providing tools for all stakeholders for SDG implementation. - Empowering municipal governments and private sector to strengthen implementation mechanisms. + Accelerators Programme: Selection of Ambassadors (between 18-65) and Member Organizations to be part of MY World Mexico annually. - More than 800 Ambassadors trained and selected in four years. - More than 75 Member Organizations.
We have impacted upon two million people across Mexico thanks to more than +100,000 volunteer actions,+500 organizations from across sectors as well as 20,000 volunteers. We have also been part of key SDG processes within the United Nations, as well as at the regional, national and local levels, including: + Schools (public and private). + Private sector (small and large companies). + Non-governmental organizations. + Civil Society Organizations. + Local governments.
Enabling: - Self-funded initiative based on Membership Organizations scheme and Mentorship Programme. - Donations. - Volunteerism. Constraints: - COVID-19 restrictions.
We have had experiences with staff and volunteers in other countries willing to replicate the practice.
