Background
The SDG Pavilion at the UN Climate Change Conference, COP24, in Katowice, Poland, brought together experts and influencers leading the implementation of the Sustainable Development Goals around the world for a series of high-level discussions on the interlinkages between climate change and the 2030 Agenda. From 3-14 December, the SDG Pavilion provided a platform for interactive dialogues to share experiences and ideas on how best to leverage policies, programmes, multi-stakeholder action and partnerships to advance both the SDGs and climate action in ways to maximize benefits and leave no one behind.
As partnerships are a key component of achieving the SDGs and Paris Agreement, DESA teamed up with the Global Energy Interconnection Development and Cooperation Organization (GEIDCO), for the SDG Pavilion. By leveraging the broad network of DESA and GEIDCO’s global multi-stakeholder partners, the Pavilion engaged thought leaders from business, civil society, academia, philanthropy, as well as from the UN system. Topics discussed include the linkages between climate and energy, food production, forests, our ocean and more.
