    Description
    Description

The Circular Design Summit is the first benchmark of Re/WORKED. It brings together 60 voices of change makers and leaders from different parts of the fashion industry for an intimate, collaborative, solution driven summit to engage in key conversations that can support and drive creating new systems in circularity. forward.

    Implementation of the Project/Activity

Working with advisors after the summit, we will be formalizing partnerships and collaboratives that can help to propel various branches of circularity forward through the power of coming together. The Matchmaking Program is modelled from Crown Affair's Seedling program, it collects applications and data from Re/WORKED Circular Design Summit attendees after the event, and in light of expanding access, also to interested participants beyond attendees. It analyzes what bridges to connect that have the potential to drive circularity forward through partnerships or various forms of support such as mentorship, introductions and collaboratives. The Makers Market is Re/WORKED’s consumer facing initiative, engaging with the consumer to defy the notion that second hand material is of lower value - and encourages caring for what we already have, by highlighting strong, long lasting design and a creative mending station.

Arrangements for Capacity-Building and Technology Transfer

Through a partnership with Documentary filmmaker Jennifer Sharp, the Re/WORKED: Circular Design Summit: DIGITAL, makes the conversations at the summit accessible to a virtual, wider audience on a future date, and expands the community's reach for a more inclusive Matchmaking program. The Makers Market is the first event that fosters community and collaborative support systems specifically for designers that are forging unique business models with upcycling and circularity at heart. Designers that are not traditionally a part of the New York sustainable fashion system, many who have been in their own world addressing challenges, will have the opportunity to attend the Circular Design Summit, engage in these conversations in person, and also be apart of the Makers Market community that offers a platform, sales opportunities and guided support in their journey. Re/WORKED acknowledges that these designers, who are engaging in creating new systems and ways of interacting with second hand and waste, are experimenting with business models, and each serve as an individual blueprint that the industry has a potential to learn from.

    Coordination mechanisms

Re/WORKED is in a grassroots stage and is currently governed through advisors and partners that offer collaborative forms of support.

    Evaluation

Re/WORKED will be evaluated through the following procedures. A survey with questions such as; Did participants find any resources or support at the summit that they hadn’t had prior, that support in their journey towards circularity?  Did participants find the day inspiring? Did they take any action based on the conversations and people met? What changes, partnerships (informal or formal), or actions have been taken as a result of being a part of the Re/WORKED community? The quality of the partnerships and collaboratives we are able to help form in the matchmaking program. We are seeking a partner that could help measure the environmental and social implications of each partnership and collaborative.
