Description
Develop food systems for both animals and human beings from Piliostigma Thonningii.
Our task is to establish a rural development production system, that empowers the rural community in fighting poverty and hunger, through product development (therapeutic porridge, energy bars, toothpaste etc) and production development (manufacturing and production strategy both structural and infrastructural issues) in a sustainable manner, looking into renewable resources throughout the entire value chain.
Jongi's Woods will be responsible for resource mobilization, and coordination of all activities, governmental departments will be responsible for handling the community and a Memorandum of Understanding will be drafted for traction to occur.
Training of community members will be done at Mount Mainji in Mutare Rural in Zimbabwe, where members are trained on climate smart agriculture, agroforestry and agroecology.
The design processes the relevant stakeholders from the community and governmental will be included, so that strategy aligns with stakeholder expectations. After Jongi's Woods has developed the production system, it will hand over the production system to the community for its sustenance, therefore, before realization of the production system we will train members from the community in managing business, forestry resources, marketing, logistics and supply chain, product development and innovation, and maintenance of facilities.
It is about 70% private development and 30% public development. The lesser percentile is when we engage the community, as out-growers to benefit from this initiative, this might also include partnership with public sector in accelerating this initiative. The rest of the percentiles are managed by Jongi's Woods, from product development to production development. However, after initiation, Jongi's Woods will take less percentiles (30%) and the rest of percentiles will be the responsibility of the community and public sector e.g Environmental Management Agency together with the community in question
The program will be evaluated based on the following Key Performance Indicators:
1. Market share, that is, inventory turn-over ratio;
2. Rate of Return on Investment;
3. How much community member are getting per month from the program;
4. What is the Carbon Foot Print in terms of SCOPE 1, 2 and 3 for the program;
5. What is the nutritional levels of each product mix;
6. How many trees planted by the program/year;
