    Description
    Description

Our organization unites groups, businesses, and individuals who believe that jewelry can act as a positive force in global affairs and who strive to align the industry with the 17 Sustainable Goals outlined by the United Nations. The conference provides a chance to share ideas, solve problems, and celebrate the latest advances in responsible jewelry sourcing practices, and acts as a breeding ground for new initiatives and collaborations. This year we have representatives from the World Bank, World Wildlife Fund, the U.S. State Department, among many others who will speak and be present as audience members during the conference. Every year offers an exciting chance for conference attendees to network and meet others who are working in all different capacities towards the same goal. The impact of drawing attendees from outside the immediate jewelry industry is very important and necessary for reaching our sustainability goals.

    Implementation of the Project/Activity

The conference consists of a two-day event preceded by a gem sales day event. Speakers, presentations, and breakout table discussions are curated to deliver high-level content to the jewelry industry on the topic of responsible and sustainable jewelry supply chains.

Arrangements for Capacity-Building and Technology Transfer

The conference is an in-person event with virtual access, allowing participants to watch the conference from all over the world. All conference videos are posted to the conference YouTube page.

    Coordination mechanisms

The conference is governed by the RJT board, directed by Susan Wheeler and produced and supported by the StrategyWerx Management team.

    Evaluation

The Chicago Responsible Jewelry Conference is evaluated by its peer audience members, speakers and the jewelry industry at large. Feedback is largely positive and excited, with audience members learning about ethical and responsible practices in the jewelry industry. As a grassroots organization, the nature of conference topics is passionate and informed and gain an audience who shares the same eagerness for action.
