    AGAATI Foundation is a non-profit 501(c)(3) building an ethical, eco-friendly and equitable artisan economy that is deeply rooted in creativity nurtured by human hand and soulful spirit. We are committed to celebrating creativity, elevating visibility and valuing of artisans by supporting the socio-economic development of the global artisan communities.

    Global Eco Artisan Awards & Conference - Masterclasses via corporate/ partner collaborations to share knowledge in market access, technology, sustainable materials, responsible designing and market fit designing - Partnership with designers, academia and museums - Marketing Enablement trainings - Research on endangered craft 

    Arrangements for Capacity-Building and Technology Transfer

    The foundation currently made of volunteers has 2 major initiatives through which we create impact. We exist to be of service to the artisans while the other stakeholders such as designers, brands, retailers, suppliers, academia, social enterprises, non-profits, activists, impact leaders and media are key to collaborate with for the socio-economic growth of the artisan communities. One key initiative we lead is the recognition of excellence in sustainable designs and craftsmanship using the platform Global Eco Artisan Awards and Conference. The 2nd Annual awards will be conducted virtually in November 2022. The awards aim to raise awareness of the creativity and craftsmanship of artisans and its impact on culture, livelihoods, and the planet. The conference will also build collaborations across different stakeholders in the artisan economy ecosystem, connect makers and consumers, foster personal relationships at scale to inspire conscious consumption and bring together leaders to champion the conservation and socio-economic growth of artisans.

     

    Coordination mechanisms

    We are a registered 501(c)(3) non-profit organization. The governing board includes key players in the sustainable fashion industry. Patrick Duffy - founder of Global Fashion Exchange, Bandana Tewari - Sustainability activist and former Vogue India editor, Saloni Shrestha - founder of AGAATI Foundation.

    Evaluation

    Positive impact for at least 1000 artisans in 3 years across 60 countries through visibility & promotion to a global audience, collaborations, learning, and skill development. Supporting communities to overcome challenges due to limited access to resources, education, capital and markets. Capacity building helps businesses to become self-reliant. A short-term micro funding for projects via the cash prize from the awards. An exhibit for 2021 and 2022 finalists to be recognized for excellence in artisanal creativity and technique. Our efforts aim at elevating the value of handcrafted goods to make communities more visible in the fashion & lifestyle sector. Conservation of endangered craft and promotion to help craftspeople with the continuity of their legacies. Bring respect and pride back to the sector.
