Description
• Reduction of the population index in extreme poverty (by income) from 49.3% in 2013 to 45% in 2018.
• Decrease in the global malnutrition rate in children under 3 years of age. 14.7% in 2013 to 6.5% in 2018.
• Reduction of the infant mortality rate from 29 / 1000nv in 2013 to 13 / 1000nv in 2018.
• Reduction of illiteracy by 60%, decreasing from 12% in 2013 to 4.8% in 2018.
With the vision of implementing a business model of social investment that promotes well-being to those left behind, we focus our efforts on actions to reduce multidimensional poverty. Thus, in 2018 we conducted a study of the IPM - Multidimensional Poverty Index in 100% of the neighboring communities, resulting in 0.43, with an incidence of 89% and an intensity of 48.09%. We have applied the analysis of the deprivations found in the study to the strategic plan that from 2019 to 2023 will allow us to contribute to the sustainable human development of the population, through a comprehensive approach to the dimensions related to multidimensional poverty in the rural area of the southern zone of Honduras.
This plan is composed of 6 programs, which according to dimension are detailed as follows:
• Dimension: standard of living
• Program: Strengthening citizen participation for peace and development Action: 1- Strengthening leadership in communities 2- Accompaniment for the development and management of Community Development Plans with a comprehensive approach and integrated management
• Program: Local economic development: 1- Strengthening of Rural Savings and Credit Funds 2- Promotion of entrepreneurship 3- Strengthening of agricultural production as an income-generating economic activity
• Dimension: Health
• Program: Comprehensive early childhood care Action: 1- Child Nutrition 2- Initial education - early stimulation 3- Pre-basic education
• Program: Healthy families Action: 1- Promotion of sexual health and reproductive health 2- Healthy housing - water and sanitation 3- Food security and healthy lifestyles 4- Health committees - community participation 5- Improved attention to health problems unattended health
Dimension: Education
• Program: Five Star Schools Action: 1- Pedagogical and organizational strengthening 2- Promotion of a Culture of Peace through art, culture and sport 3- School health 4- School environmental responsibility 5- Infrastructure improvement.
• Program: Access to education for groups in social exclusion. Action: 1- Literacy 2- Non-formal education alternatives to improve coverage of basic education.
To measure the results of the programs there is a monitoring system based on 17 indicators that are measured annually, some of these indicators reflect the change observed in the deprivations linked to multidimensional poverty.
We hope that the actions contribute to reducing the IPM - Multidimensional Poverty Index, from 0.43 which is currently, to less than 0.40 in the year 2023. To verify, we commit ourselves to periodically measure the IPM and that its results guide us to the necessary adjustments to ensure that these programs contribute to the SDG targets by 2030 in Honduras.
