Background
On the margin of the 9th Multi-stakeholder Forum on Science, Technology and Innovation for the Sustainable Development Goals (STI Forum), this side event was organised by UNESCO, the OACPS R&I Programme of the Organisation of African, Caribbean and Pacific States (OACPS) Secretariat, and the UN Interagency Task Team on Capacity-building in Science, Technology and Innovation for the SDGs (IATT-WS6). The event was held on Friday, 10 May 2024, 2:30 – 3:45 p.m. CET, in a virtual format on Teams.
The side event discussed interventions and tools to strengthen policy implementation in the field of science, technology and innovation, using case studies and presenting key findings of two recent publications:
- OACPS/IATT Handbook on how to formulate and implement effective Research and Innovation (R&I) policies
- UNESCO Science, Technology and Innovation Policy Instruments for the Sustainable Development Goals: A Global Outlook
Representatives from the OACPS Secretariat, UNESCO, the IATT- WS6 entities, as well as country officials, shared their insights on designing and implementing policy and policy instruments on science, technology and innovation for achieving the Sustainable Development Goals.
