Description
Description

Humanity faces critical issues such as land and water scarcity, resource depletion, sea level rise, food security and societal issues. As a French non-profit organization, The Indigo Civilization Project is exploring shared, multi-use and inhabited floating marine ecosystems as a sustainable and scalable response fro the rich and the poor: Smart Offshore Ecosystems. After an initial stage dedicated to comprehensive research, modelling, and simulation, the Indigo Civilization Project aims to implement an in-situ prototyping and rigorous testing program before targeting a global deployment phase. The Indigo Civilization wishes to involve SIDS in this avant-garde scientific and philosophical research project.

Implementation of the Project/Activity

The roadmap of the project follows 3 steps (https://drive.google.com/file/d/1QB8vdb_kT_u7aVSKtoX2JPF-t1MRsOaY/view?…):

1- Think-Tank + Lab : white paper, survey, functional multi-use design, simulation and small-scale prototyping
2- Private public consortiums : in-situ prototyping (SIDS + French waters)
3- Mix economies / concessions : reliable efficient global deployment wherever such solutions may be required

Arrangements for Capacity-Building and Technology Transfer

This open-innovation project aims at synchronising multidisciplinary and multicultural work groups (academic, scientific institutions, public authorities, companies, NGOs), according to different milestones regarding research, simulation and prototyping. We wish to involve SIDS so that they may benefit from all the provided learnings and long-term experience curve.

Coordination mechanisms

The Indigo Civilization non-profit, composed of a founding committee orchestrates an academic / research multidisciplinary team, composed of international experts. We wish to involve the academic ressources of the partner SIDS in order to benefit from advanced cultural and pragmatic scientific knowledge, and to raise social acceptance in time. The Indigo Civilization project is an opportunity for SIDS to define and co-create adaptation solution delivering simultaneous economical, socio-economic and ecological progress: transforming SIDS into models of progress and resilience
