Description
Description

In many water utilities in developing countries, citizen dissatisfaction due to the low service levels, lack of trust in water utilities, inefficient business operations, and insufficient funds are often observed in vicious cycle. The goal of this cluster strategy is to improve the operation and management of water utilities to put them on a growth trajectory by turning the vicious cycle into a virtuous cycle of improved service, more efficient operations, securing tariff income, and securing investment.
The creation of such self-sustaining and growing water utilities is the key to achieving the SDGs, and it is important to increase the number of water utilities with sound management to mobilize private sector funds.
To achieve this goal, JICA will adopt an approach that starts from the expansion of the tariff revenue base and improvement of services through facility development and an approach that starts from the increase of revenue and profit and improvement of services through the reduction of non-revenue water.
We will set global goals based on our analysis of the issues we face, and work to improve the results of our development cooperation projects. In addition, we will promote communication and collaboration not only with developing countries but also with a variety of domestic and international partners, aiming to maximize the results of development cooperation.
