Calik Denim, one of the leading premium denim manufacturers in the World, is aware that the industry is being faced with global environmental and social changes and associated risks. The company aims to turn such risks into opportunities, manage the impact of denim on life, create positive value and deliver benefits to its stakeholders. Therefore, its sustainability strategy has been defined as "Passion for Denim Passion for Life", focusing on the purpose of making a positive impact for a better life. The company is encouraged by its passion for denim and passion for life to become the leading denim brand that triggers the sustainability-driven transformation in the industry. Its sustainability strategy encompasses the products, stakeholders and environment. Calik Denim is set to achieve its purpose of making a positive impact for a better life via three pillars: - Leading innovative products - Creating a positive impact for/with stakeholders - Reducing its impact on the environment Under each pillar, the company “focuses on” certain material issues.
Leaders of 5 different working groups under the Calik Denim’s Sustainability Committee follow the 2025 Sustainability Targets for which their working group is responsible and reports the developments. As a result of these reports made to the quarter-based to the Head of Committee and CEO of Calik Denim, appropriate actions are taken.
The targets that Calik Denim have realized are published in GRI-approved sustainability reports of the company with all industry stakeholders. Each goal contributes to Calik Denim, industry stakeholders, the end consumer, and thus the entire ecosystem. Calik Denim presents its sustainability vision and projects globally by participating in and supporting platforms with the shared vision of creating a secure the future.
Within the scope of Calik Denim's "Passion for Denim, Passion for Life" Sustainability Strategy, 2025 Sustainability Targets have been determined. A Sustainability Committee, consisting of the General Manager, Committee Chairman, Committee Coordinator and Committee Working Groups, was established in order to play an active role in the realization of these targets and monitoring the process. These committee working groups hold monthly meetings to discuss and take action on issues such as progress in targets, projects and global dynamics. The committee makes presentations to the committee management quarterly and updates the targets in each relevant period.
While Calik Denim carries out “Passion for Denim Passion for Life”, the company is set to achieve its purpose of making a positive impact for a better life via three pillars including leading innovative products, creating a positive impact with stakeholders and reducing its impact on the environment. In addition to all the activities Calik Denim carries out in this context, the company attaches importance to industrial and inter-industrial collaborations in order to create a wider sustainability impact with a holistic approach. Calik Denim’s has participated in the Ellen MacArthur Foundation’s Jean Redesign project, cross-industry collaborations under Transformation Lab projects, and Sustainable Denim Education classes created with world-leading fashion schools such as Parsons New School.
Continuing its activities as a UN Global Compact participant company since 2019, all processes related to the sustainability strategy of Calik Denim are followed by the Sustainability Committee.
Calik Denim has developed the Transparency Monitoring System (TMS) to record and report all stages in the production processes to improve the necessary points. As an output of these, the company regularly consults their 2025 Sustainability Targets and evolves them according to the global dynamics.
