Description
Our science for the green economy is the University initiative bringing together our sustainability offer across technology and leadership. With contributions from across the University Themes, and with a distinctive practical tone for business, Government and the NGO sector, implementation is being effected through the Corporate Plan and the constituent Academic Plans of the Schools and Themes. Local delivery of the business occurs through academic centres and institutes at Cranfield. We have major sub-initiatives on corporate governance, infrastructure, big data, environmental risk, water and sanitation, low carbon energy futures and food security.
A core mission for the University is to train and educate the next generation of sustainability leaders. With contributions from across the University in the broad themes of technology and management, the University is sharpening its global offer to postgraduate students to ensure a deep and practical awareness of the sustainable development goals and their significance. Coordination of the University research and training is provided by the University Executive, the Pro-Vice-Chancellor of Energy, Environment and Agrifood and through the senior leadership of Directors of Themes, for Energy, Environment and Agrifood. Less concerned with natural resources as assets for their own sake, we are motivated by practical innovation, resource stewardship in the interests of business and society, and the delivery of robust evidence that impacts on the triple bottom line and that informs legitimate policy and regulatory design.
