International Workshop “Strengthening National Capacities for Enhancing Micro-, Small and Medium-sized Enterprises’ (MSMEs) Resilience for accelerating the implementation of the 2030 Agenda and SDGs in developing countries

The Division for Sustainable Development Goals of the United Nations Department of Economic and Social Affairs (DSDG/UNDESA) is organizing an international capacity building workshop on “Strengthening National Capacities for Enhancing Micro-, Small and Medium-sized Enterprises (MSME) Resilience for accelerating the implementation of the 2030 Agenda and SDGs in developing countries”, to be held in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia from 11 to 13 November 2024. The objective of the workshop, to be carried out under the Peace and Development Fund on MSMEs, is to strengthen national capacities to provide technical assistance, capacity building and exchange knowledge on good practices; build enabling policy environments, by supporting the design and implementation of coherent policies, regulations, and institutional frameworks that foster an enabling environment for MSMEs to thrive in the context of the confluence of crises; increase the capacity of MSMEs to withstand challenges posed by climate challenges, rising inflations and interrupted supply chains; and expand access to high-value market opportunities, by supporting the integration of MSMEs into regional mechanisms such as the African Continental Free Trade Area (AfCFTA) and the Asia-Pacific Regional Comprehensive Economic Partnership (RCEP).
The workshop aims to bring together policymakers and MSME entrepreneurs from project target countries, in addition to resource persons, along with representatives from intergovernmental organizations, donor agencies and the private sector, with priorities given to women, youth and persons in vulnerable situations. Every effort will be made to ensure a balanced and inclusive representation. The workshop will be delivered in a hybrid mode. For online participants, kindly please click here for registration.
