Universal Diploma in Sustainable Development (UDSD)

    There are 6 SDGs in particular that have been identified in designing the Universal Diploma in Sustainable Development program. The UDSD is designed with a multiplexing of stimulating programs to offer higher quality teaching and learning to university and high school students across the continent, bridging the existing gaps in knowledge sharing, and fostering cultural understanding of green-sustainable development values, policies, and methods within schools and communities. The program within the University will help and drive the institution to build a campus-wide sustainable development approach and move swiftly and effectively to the implementation stage among communities, schools, and business community.
    Implementation of the Project/Activity

    The UDSD will be integrated into Science, Technology, English, Math, and Arts modules facilitating fusion of universal pedagogy collaboration, research, and campus practices. This Universal Diploma in Sustainable Development is conceptualized with a flexible implementation approach that can be adjusted according to the need of the school, the stakeholder, and the environment within an ever-evolving feedback based partnership platform that actively involves everyone. From the onset, it will gather all faculties and administration personnel presents on the campus, the minister of health, environment and sustainable development and other ministers represented by theirs regional directors, private institutions, potential business sponsors, the municipality, regional directors, directors of k-12 and teachers, students parents, the community, and the international institutions in the creation of a sharing vision for the UDSD local implementation. The strategy include helping build the university sustainable development leadership among communities, k-12 schools, and business community. The academy center of Sustainable Development with close collaboration with the academy affairs department of the university will coordinates the collection and promotion of sustainable initiatives through UDSD program implementation. The partnering will provide facilitation and support to assist with implementation of sustainability initiatives, and coordinates reporting on progress of the UDSD Plan. They will review existing pedagogy curriculum and school improvement plans and guidelines for adjusting and proposing a reviewed plan for integrating the UDSD program into the existing plan. They also will be in charge of establishing a stakeholder planning committee, identifying the students and UDSD program needs, identifying the available resources or provision it to support the UDSD implementation plan, staff development, and evaluation, budget and funding strategies. The entities will work closely with stakeholder planning committee for curriculum integration: establishing goals and objectives, and developing related classroom-based plans. The ACSD in collaboration with the university vice president and academy affairs office, including students, teachers and community leaders will establish working groups, such as the environmental campaign committee, the green life styles campaign committee, identify potential collaborators on strategies and provide support for action planning and reporting. Together they will identify potential collaborators for each strategy goal and capture this information in an internal implementation backlog framework. The implementation framework will help build connections between potential collaborators, identify the need for resources or funding, establish resources for funding, performance indicators, and collect the information needed for progress reporting on a plan execution status. This method reflect the values of the UDSD program

    Capacity

    This next step is divided into 3 implementations phases: the pre-implementation, the implementation, and the post implementation. Each phase carry out strategic goals. <br />

    Pre-Implementation phase: the university, the minister of environment, the high schools, the municipality and the community lead the pre-implementation phase. It introduces UDSD Community Sustainability Week, where all stakeholders are introduced to sustainable development goals carried by UDSD. All participants will receive 2 weeks training in a UDSD community sustainability project. Students, teachers, community youths leaders, municipality, all governments representing in the city, international community, will work collaboratively with their peers designing and orchestrating sustainable plan for their school, work places, and community. This phase is community based and advocates practices associated with sustainable green projects activities such as greening policies, green health, energy efficiency, water conservation, good habits, waste and noise control reduction.<br />
    <br />
    UDSD Community Sustainability Week is an opportunity to introduce the UDSD program to the community, as well as its different awards such as the green school award, the green community award, and the green workplace award. It will allow for schools to establish links with business leaders and community youth leaders to gain knowledge in a sustainable collaborative action projects implementation initiative.<br />

    Governed

    The UDSD programs are developed with reliance on two strategic pillars: Green Sustainable Leadership, and Entrepreneurship. <br />

    This initiative is guided by the UDSD through its universal flexible implementation plan that can be adjusted according to the need of the school, stakeholders, and the environment within which the platform is executing and should actively involve everyone. The initiative is coordinated locally by the academy center of Sustainable Development (ACSD) in coordination with the University academy affairs department, the office of the vice-president of the university, and the director regional of environment. The ACSD, the international HEIs Advisory Board, the local government members Advisory Board along with the Sustainable Student Congress (SSC) with the support of the minister of environment, the minister of technology and communication, the minister of higher education, and the minister of National Education will conduct continuous monitoring of the UDSD implementation to ensure that it achieves its sustainable development goals. <br />
