Description
The Coalition for Greener Mobility (greenermobility.org) is committed to reducing the carbon footprint of global corporate relocation and to supporting sustainable practices in workforce mobility. Dwellworks delivers services for 30,000+ corporate employees every year who stay in temporary housing, travel to new destinations, and require accommodations and services for themselves and those traveling/moving with them. Within the remit of the scope of work performed for our clients , Dwellworks aligns specifically with key SDGs, including: 5) gender equality - building an organization that supports and promotes women at all levels of the business and provides responsive service to the specific concerns of women on global work assignments; 7) affordable and clean energy - Dwellworks does not generate energy but through the supply chain we use to deliver transportation and accommodations related services, we continuously survey the use of cars and alternative transportation, and in housing, the adoption of sustainable practices like lowered energy and water use, to promote adoption of more efficient solutions wherever possible; 10) reduced inequalities - global workforce mobility is a business practice that encourages the global distribution of diverse talent through inclusive practices and policies, which Dwellworks advocates and demonstrates to its clients and customers; 12) responsible consumption and production - we deliver our services paper-free to the extent possible and manage our physical office footprint efficiently to reduce carbon emissions, and have done so in successive years since 2020; and 13) climate action - we are an industry advocate for educating a supply chain that extends to 125 countries and includes thousands of properties and people , in the specific actions they can take to control and reduce emissions, and we are a sponsor of a carbon calculator specific for the temporary housing industry which will enable clients, traveling employees, and housing operators to calculate the 'carbon cost' of a stay in serviced apartment housing and discern the steps by which carbon emissions can be reduced
1. Coalition for Greenery Mobility is an advisory body consisting of leaders/sustainability specialists in the respective lines of service related to global workforce mobility
2. Each area expert works with affiliated service providers in their 'workstream' to both share best practices in sustainability and to learn from affiliated service providers how they are creating their sustainability roadmaps and efficiently implementing sustainable actions.
3. Individual companies (such as Dwellworks) manage their own annual goals, measurements, results and communication. The Coalition for Greener Mobility reports out on progress at industry forums and specifically supports large scale actions, such as 'defining the sustainability criteria to be used in reviewing service partners' , so that companies in our industry as well as employers looking to use our service have more standardized ways of assessing sustainable performance - enabling a level playing field while also encouraging/rewarding progress towards sustainable practices and outcomes aligned with key SDG.
Within Dwellworks own operations and focus on sustainability in the context of the identified, aligned Strategic Development Goals, we build capacity through the ongoing efforts of our supply chain management team, our global inclusion committee, and our ESG team to align the company's actions and those of our suppliers and partners to meet targets and more importantly, foster a sustainability mindset and practice. At present, there is limited technology transfer in our Sustainability efforts, but we see that evolving quickly as in the next 12 months hundreds of our supply chain will be participating in a carbon calculation methodology (developed by one of the core associations in the Coalition for Greener Mobility) which will enable not only a validated methodology for carbon emissions measurements but will demonstrate the value of making progress in sustainability through shared and streamlined platforms. vs solely through individual company efforts
The initiatives encompassed in Greener Workforce Mobility are guided by the coalition 'out' and the members of the coalition 'in.' The participants in the Coalition meet in workgroups associated with their lines of business to develop objectives, actions and measurable results, which are shared with coalition affiliates in national and regional meetings of our associations and through webinars. Each company who affiliates with the Coalition, as Dwellworks has, determines their own course of action in sustainability/ESG initiatives and also works with affiliate organizations to simplify and standardize sustainable actions so they can be more broadly adopted. Dwellworks governs its internal initiatives through a Steering Committee with quarterly report outs and an annual report summarizing progress vs goals and actions still required.
Dwellworks evaluates its own progress in sustainability through annual goal setting, quarterly reviews and an annual public communication of results. Each participant organization in the Coalition for Greener Mobility similarly manages their own plan and results, and the Coalition provides a resource center through which affiliate organizations can learn of Coalition and affiliated companies' use cases and success stories in working towards making global workforce mobility not only 'greener' but more inclusive, diverse, and representative of the UN SDG.
Dwellworks is a partner in the activities coordinated by the Coalition for Greener Mobility, which includes, Worldwide ERC (WERC), Canadian ERC (CERC), European Relocation Association (EuRA), Corporate Housing Providers Association (CHPA), Association of International Movers (AIM), Federation Internationale des Demanageurs Internationaux (FIDI)
