Description
This is the South Sudan national commitment statement to accelerate SDG progress by 2030 focusing on SDG targets 2,.4; 3.3; 4.7; 8.5; 9.2; 13.1; and 16.6.
The SDGs accelerators will be implemented through existing frameworks of the Revised National Development Strategy, Revitalized Agreement on the Resolution of Conflict in South Sudan, and the United Nations Sustainable Development Cooperation Framework, and the agreed South Sudan SDG Rescue Plan. This will be operationalized through the government's annual national budgets and UN support through the joint work plans of the UNSDCF.
1. Support from UN Agencies, Funds and Programmes to support government entities with capacity building and strengthening.
2. South-South cooperation and visits to learn lessons and best practices from other member states with similar economic and political dynamics.
3. Deployment of technical support and Advisors to government entities.
The implementation and reporting will be coordinated by the Ministry of Finance and Planning in collaboration with the Ministry of Health,
Ministry of General Education and Instruction, Ministry of Peacebuilding
Ministry of Environment and Forestry, Ministry of Agriculture and Food Security, and United Nations Development System in South Sudan. Coordination will also involve CSOs, youth and private sector.
The custodian of the Dashboard for SDG Acceleration will be the Ministry of Finance and Planning
Progress will be tracked using the SDGs indicators for targets 2,.4; 3.3; 4.7; 8.5; 9.2; 13.1; and 16.6. This will include quarterly or annual monitoring and reporting of progress on these indicators that will be published on the SDG dashboard to be hosted by the Ministry of Finance and Planning.
