Description
We developed the Caribbean Ring of Hope Sites in conjunction with Sylvia Earl and Mission Blue to bring representatives for each country to meet in a round table discussion of conservation in each country along with what has worked and what has not been successful and share ideas about where additional work is needed.
We have several modules to be presented like the science of coral reefs, the protection, the monitoring, sediment flows, storm water runoff, 1st response, preparedness, oil spills, GIS and local content.
We are planning for a day of coral planting and mangroves the following day after the Gala. Once the venue is locked down I will approach Jimmy Buffet for the entertainment, who has done benefits like this in many locations in the Caribbean. I am also pursuing the possibility of Sylvia Earl of Mission Blue, as a speaker as well.
Upon completion of the presentation and the execution of the proposal, the template we will have created will be moved to the next island location, most likely St. Barts then Saba and so on.
Create in depth proposal for coral conservation plans for The Cook Islands and received approval from the manager of the MPA and the Prime Minister.

In November 2017 a devastating hurricane laid waste to the Island of St. Maarten as well as 90% of the coral around the island. The ten year program we developed for St. Maarten and all of the related events were either destroyed or canceled. We soon had to alter our efforts and go into a humanitarian mode for the island and were able to get some disaster material into St. Maarten by way of volunteer boats to bring over 100 boxes of material.
