Description
The Ocean Foundation’s Blue Resilience Initiative (BRI) commits to investing $8M over three years (2022-25) to support coastal habitat restoration, conservation, and agroforestry in the Wider Caribbean Region as nature-based solutions to the human disruption of the climate. BRI will invest in active and under-development projects in Puerto Rico (USA), Mexico, the Dominican Republic, Cuba, and St. Kitts & Nevis. These projects will entail the restoration and conservation of seagrasses, mangroves, and coral reefs, as well as the use of nuisance sargassum seaweed in the production of organic compost to be used in regenerative agroforestry.
