Description
This commitment advances marine spatial planning (MSP) as a tool to support ocean-based carbon neutrality. Under the UN Ocean Decade ONCE program, “Global MSP 2060” will define ocean carbon sink functional zones and develop planning methods that integrate climate, ecology, and sea use. A blockchain platform and global data network will support knowledge sharing, with demonstration sites in China, the U.S., and Europe. The project promotes co-design with governments, researchers, and youth from SIDS and developing countries to turn science into action.
