Description
The Mexican Youth Institute (IMJUVE) in the definition and implementation of the national policy in favour of Mexican youth well being, seeks to encourage and promote the comprehensive development of young people so that they are recognized as subjects of law and strategic actors in the decisions of the country. Recognizing the importance of addressing mental health problems in the young population -specially related to confinement by COVID 19- and in collaboration with federal, international and academic bodies, IMJUVE launches the "Youth Contact, National Youth Care Network" program to contribute to improve the quality of life of adolescents, young people and their communities (during and after the health emergency), through mental health care actions, referral in situations of violence and/orsubstance abuse, intergenerational support and educational actions
1. Contributing to the improvement of the mental health of adolescents, young people and their communities through actions to address emotional problems, referral in situations of violence, prevention of substance abuse, sexual and reproductive health counseling, intergenerational support and educational actions. 2. Also, in order to provide a professional service, the young volunteers attend 75 hours of online training provided by personnel from IMJUVE, UNICEF, agencies of the Federal Public Administration and UNAM, especially on mental health issues, identification of cases of violence with a gender perspective, health and sexual diversity, etc. 3. Youth Contact, in alliance with UNICEF, uses the U-Partners platform that allows to work through Whats App, so that young people who require psychosocial support can contact each other free of charge and anonymously.
