    Description

Viktoria Marchev, Hungarian fashion designer launched her brand mainly focusing on women’s swimwear. Since 2014 she has been experimenting with new technologies and she has created molded pieces of silicone rubber, a versatile material that supports her sci-fi ambience concepts. The technology developed and the pieces created besides being visually pleasing, waterproof and enduring are highly eco-friendly, as there is no waste produced during the creative process and keeping them clean hardly needs water and chemicals. In her previous collection she upgraded the technology by injecting water between layers of silicone to create the 'Splash' effect. With each and every collection she stretches her boundaries to lift silicone art to a new and environmentally conscious level.

    Implementation of the Project/Activity

The emphasis is on the design process as the pouring of the material is time-limited. Molds are made to ensure minimal waste is produced. The nature of the material allows more efficient cleaning.

Arrangements for Capacity-Building and Technology Transfer

The technology behind the collections are shared through the brand website, social media, backstage interviews and articles. The collections were showcased - 2016-continuously International Fashion Weeks: Vancouver Fashion Week (2016, 2017, 2018), New York Fashion Week (NYFW, 2018, 2019), San Francisco Fashion Week (FCWSF, 2018, 2022), London Fashion Week Exhibition (2018), Paris Fashion Week (PFW, 2022) - 2021 The Museum Of Science Fiction On-line exhibition: A collaboration to introduce the silicone rubber technology to the audience of science-fiction enthusiasts - 2021 A'Design Award: Through an International Design Award the technology was widely featured in international press and an art exhibition - 2019 The Council of Aspiring American Designers (CAFFD) provided a sponsorship to the designer to showcase her collections at NYFW - 2015- continuously Backstage interviews, magazine articles featured detailed description of the technology including the benefits - 2015 NOT JUST A LABEL (one of the most influential international designer platform) chose the designer into it category of innovative designers and have been featured on the front page regularly, including social media posts in front of a wide fashion conscious audience

    Coordination mechanisms

Every season new collections are showcased at International Fashion Weeks, featured in magazines, articles, emphasizing the importance of sustainable fashion.

    Evaluation

The designer is making her pieces of silicone rubber, the unique technology was developed by her for her collection SS2015 ‘CLONES’. Since then every collections features a new step in the innovation process. Unique pieces can be made without mass production as colors and 3D patterns are made for each piece. The patterns are all made in one integrated piece, there is no need for sewing, the emphasis is on the precise design process. All pieces are 100% waterproof. The 3 mm thickness combines a firm hold and strength.

    Staff / Technical expertise
The possibility of creating each piece uniquely eliminates the need of purchasing premade fabrics which need to be produced in big quantities because of their technology. More attention and expertise are needed to create pieces individually.
    Financing (in USD)
The first molds need careful design and experimentation, they form the financial investment part of the project, which allow less waste in the future production.
    Staff / Technical expertise
The pieces need to be designed in a way where the benefits of the material's waterproof quality can be benefitted from while the pieces remain wearable.
    Staff / Technical expertise
