Description
GFEI is a global partnership of expert groups which have come together to support governments around the world to set policies for cleaner and more efficient vehicles. It works towards its goal of more efficient low carbon global vehicle fleet through three key activities. We undertake research, undertake global advocacy, and support countries as they seek policy solutions. GFEI's goal is to radically cut greenhouse gas emissions from transport, in line with the Paris Agreement. This includes doubling vehicle fuel economy by 2030, and reducing the overall emissions (including electricity generation) of vehicles by 90% by 2050. To achieve this will require a shift to efficient electric vehicles, and a decarbonisation of energy. GFEI also has targets for HDVs, buses, and motorbikes. GFEI works with countries all around the world to ensure that the transition is truly global. This includes over 100 countries that GFEI has offered capacity building support to. GFEI is increasingly supporting regional roadmaps as well as global action, such as through the G20 Transport Task Group.
