Economic inclusion and sustainable development of Andean grain producers in Ayacucho and Puno

    In recent years, quinoa exports and other Andean grains found in Peru have increased exponentially. Unfortunately, this has not contributed to improve the quality of lives for producers. The situation is even more difficult for women living in the rural communities, who account for 69% of all agricultural producers. They have faced significant hardships compared to male agricultural producers. Therefore, the SDG-F has contributed to the adoption of an inclusive value chain in the production of quinoa and other Andean grains. The increase of the demand in the international market will determine economic and social improvement for the lives of producers who are currently vulnerable.

    The total budget devoted to the programme corresponds to $3.8 million, out of which, 39% is funded by the SDG-F.
