Description
Design and Arts Hub is a non-profit association based in Italy. The Association provides a network to small fashion brands to connect with digital marketing professionals, business consultants and local artisans. The association also provides the tools to navigate in the fashion industry in a more sustainable way with the possibility to donate funds to local social projects, or to collaborate with local artisans in African communities or to train more workers.
The fashion brands contact the association through the LinkedIn page or the website, they express the will to join the network in order to resolve a business or supply chain issue. The Association connects the brands with the right professionals in order to evaluate their difficulties, their goals and find more ethical and sustainable solutions. The Association goals are to empower local communities, in order to do that we promote new partnerships between the brands and local artisans in Africa in order to reduce poverty and inequalities, educate and train more workers, support financially more women.
We activated partnerships with Accademia Italiana (Florence and Rome), IULM university (Milan), DIDI
university in Dubai in order to collaborate on projects around sustainable design with companies that
connected with us. We will continue to embrace this model by activating dialogues between students, more
academies and fashion companies around these topics and implement real projects.
In 2020, we also launched a contest that involved the participation of 30 designers in partnership with
TFP and AIW Association. The purpose was to sew Covid-19 masks with dead-stock fabrics and sewing machines donated by companies. The face masks were made by a group of immigrant women who were seamstresses in their countries but unemployed in Italy. The designs of the masks were submitted by 30 young designers from around the world and chosen through a contest. The project raised 15000 euros in one month and raised awareness on sustainable fashion while having a social and economic impact on the community of immigrant women.
We also programmed video interviews with fashion designers, sustainability influencers, and fashion professors
specialized in sustainable innovation and partnered with the platform We Don’t Have Time that gives us
the opportunity to share the knowledge and raise awareness about the fashion impact on the planet and on
human race.
The beneficiaries are : Universities, designers, fashion companies, the community.
