Bringing the SDGs Movement to Moroccan Youth - AIESEC YouthSpeak Project

The primary aim of this YouthSpeak Project is to raise massive awareness about the sustainable development goals (SDGs) among Moroccan youth, let them express the issues they see as the most pressing to tackle in their country, and build a report based on their inputs in order to take it to decision makers in government and public institutions in Morocco.In Morocco, youth inclusion in the decision-making process remains a challenge. More than 42% of young Moroccans don’t have access to daily information and actions run in the country. Consequently, most of them don't find a suitable platform to voice up their challenges and motivations to make their communities a better place to live in as they aspire. Based on these facts, youth from AIESEC Morocco have taken the challenge to join the global conversation around the newly-created SDGs and build a project called " YouthSpeak " in order to bridge the gap between youth and the 2030 Agenda. This project gives young Moroccan people the space to voice your opinions on key challenges, hopes and ambitions. It will let them share their passion with the whole world and help them learn how they can get engaged with the issues that matter to them the most, in order to generate positive impact in their lives and the life of people around them.

Expected Impact

Week 1 & 2: - Raising awareness: Act as an ambassador of the UN by informing and educating young people in the country on the SDGs (schools, youth institutions, cultural centers, etc.)- Youth Inclusion: Conduct market research about pressing issues in the city and collect young people’s views (group discussions, panel discussions, debates, interviews) and shape an online campaign:• Young people from different schools take pictures of the goals that most represent their ambitions. • Record videos of young people sharing their testimonials about the global goals and their aspirations for their city. • Micro-trottoirs interviews with young people in the city • Make visits (3 max) to some regions near the city in order to make an assessment of the needs that SDGs can solve in this region, conduct interviews with local inhabitants, take expressive pictures of people describing their needs and challenges (a la 'Humans of New York' way). Week 3 & 4: - Spreading the word: Capitalize on the output of the three first weeks to shape a marketing message that will be the gateway to transmit the voice of youth who participated in the two first weeks:• Use the videos and materials of the first two weeks to run the online campaign to reach more people• Come up with a concept of offline campaign (i.e., flash mob) to sensitize citizens about the pressing issues in the city. • Write articles and participate in media interviews to voice up the youth opinion and the market assessment results• Connect with NGOs, youth institutions and public organizations that operate in social change and youth development and make them aware of the new directions these institutions need to take based on the market assessment and which issues their city needs to be solved Week 5 & 6: - Co-create viable projects aimed at solving the issues advanced by the research with the NGOs and institutions - Prepare a final proposal with all the assessment results, projects and finally the recommendations proposed by the EPs and hand them over to governmental institutions.

Governed

This project will be supervised by Hicham Amine and Nadiya Kotvystkaya from the National Board of AIESEC Morocco, and run locally by both AIESEC Local Committee Tangier and Marrakech. The project managers representing the local chapters in this bold mission are respectively Fatima Ezzahra El Fakir and Mariam Nezhari. They will ensure alongside with their teams to bridge the gap between international volunteers coming to create a social change in Morocco with the associative sphere and educational institutions to create a fertile platform for youth and students in both cities to voice up their opinions. A weekly meeting with the interns will be established to evaluate the advancements of the project and the report conception.
