Side Events

Side events provided a valuable opportunity for stakeholders to engage in the UNOC3 Conference. These events were organized in various formats: held in-person at the Conference venue (Blue Zone), across the city of Nice, or virtually — by Member States, UN entities, Intergovernmental Organizations, and accredited non-governmental stakeholders.
The open call for side events attracted more than 1,250 applications, demonstrating strong global interest and engagement in UNOC3.
Over 450 side events were held in connection with the UNOC3 Conference. This included 135 events at the Conference venue, over 250 across Nice, and 80 virtual events spanning multiple time zones. Summaries of these events will be submitted to the UNOC3 Secretariat and made available online.

Side Events
Side events were organized in connection with the 2025 UN Ocean Conference, either in-person or virtually, by Member States, the UN system, Intergovernmental Organizations and accredited non-governmental stakeholders. The side events were an opportunity for all participants to share knowledge and solutions to accelerate implementation of SDG 14, identify new and emerging issues, exchange national and local experiences and practices, and showcase voluntary commitments for the Voluntary Ocean Commitments.
Side events were all closely related to the main theme of the 2025 UN Ocean Conference: “Accelerating action and mobilizing all actors to conserve and sustainably use the ocean”. They addressed innovative ways and means to support the implementation of SDG 14.
