Venezuela
Distinguished Cofacilitators
We would like to reiterate both and your teams our deep appreciation for the tireless and excellent work being carried out to assist in reaching a consensus that allows us to adopt the document today.
We join in a clear and convinced manner to all and each of the elements expressed by the Ambassador of South Africa on behalf of the Group of 77 and China yesterday night, and even I am being tempted to repeat them all, we will not do so in the sake of time.
In our national capacity, for the moment, we have two observations:
The G77 + China has reiterated in several times that the Report of the Working Group on the SDG is one and indivisible. In this regard, we would appreciate that in the footnote there is included the reference to the document A 68/309 add 1.
With respect to the goal 14.c, Venezuela would like to insist that agreed language in the framework of the OWG/SDGS version should be maintained. Our country is not State Party to UNCLOS and, as we have indicated on other occasions, the text is a very sensitive issue for our country, particularly at this time when we are assessing border and sovereignty issues at the highest level.
We want to reiterate that we are committed to the work being carried out and we put our willingness that the document can be adopted today.
Thank you very much
