Revised draft outcome document: Goals & Targets
Statement by Switzerland
Distinguished Co-facilitators,
You might remember that we did have questions regarding the amendment of some of the pro-posed changes, fearing that ambition is lowered. However, at this point in the process we have come to the conclusion that we could generally support the full scope of the changes as pro-posed in the targets.
Concerning the changes to LLDCs – and although Switzerland is also a land-locked country –, we have the full listing in paragraph 12, 17 and in particular in 23 on countries facing specific challenges – these paragraphs should cover the relevant targets without us needing to amend. But even in this case we could show flexibility to agree on a full package.
In the same spirit we support the introduction paragraphs 56 to 58.
And, in conclusion, we don’t see a need to attach the chapeau of the Open Working Group Re-port, since the Declaration of the Outcome Document will cover the full scope addressed in the chapeau.
Thank you.
