Sail of Hope
Morning Meeting of the President of ECOSOC with Representatives
of Major Groups and other Stakeholders
“Implementing Rio+20 and Reviewing Progress:
Spurring Action and Ensuring Accountability”
2 July 2014
Comments и Proposal of NGO Sail of Hope
Alexander SAVOYSKY, Doctor of Political Science, NGO Sail of Hope, Director of International Affairs Department, Representative to the United Nations
Your Excellency, dear ladies and gentlemen!
Rio+20 is considered as one of the major conferences of the United Nations. Summits, Councils and Commission are held in New York and Geneva, but problems – economic, environmental, social – are not getting smaller on the planet Earth. The Strategy adopted 22 years ago in Rio – it’s only a set of recommendations and a roadmap for disciplined members of the world community not covered by the global crisis.
I have a question: «Dear ladies and gentlemen, maybe it’s time to run a different mechanism and move from recommendations to the development of clear legislative for all countries, without exception, based on international law, with the content of mechanisms to punish those, who will not comply with international requirements?!».
Thank you for attention!
