The Open Working Group of Sustainable Development Goal

Thank you, Mr. Chair.
1. The ROK is of the view that peaceful and non-violent societies are the cornerstone of sustainable development. Korea also believe that governance, rule of law and capable institutions are outcome and enablers for sustainable development.
2. In this sense, Korea is open to including them as stand-alone goals, or mainstreaming them into other goals. We are firm, however, in our belief that peace, rule of law, and good governance must be highlighted as core elements of sustainable development and the post-2015 development agenda.
3. For the possible targets, Korea support,
- Enhance effective, accountable and transparent institutions (19-2a)
- Strengthen the rule of law at all levels (19-1b, 19-2b)
- Improve public access to publicly owned information (19-2f)
- Enhance inclusive and participatory decision-making in political process (19-2g)
- Strengthening local governments(19-2i)
- Strengthening of civil society(19-2j)
