PAKISTAN’s INTERVENTION AT THE SIXTH SESSION OF THE POST-2015 DEVELOPMENT AGENDA
MOI Session
(23 July 2015)
Thank you Co-facilitator,
• We also join others in extending our deepest condolences to the Permanent Mission of Djibouti.
• Pakistan associates with the statement and comments made by South Africa on behalf of G-77 & China.
• We would like to make the following four additional points in our national capacity:
➢ First, recognizing the fact that adequate resources are critical to operationalize the Agenda as well as the goals and targets, we agree to those delegates who have emphasized that this Chapter on the Means of Implementation should reflect clear political commitment for mobilizing the necessary means to operationalize the Agenda.
➢ Secondly, the chapter must also recognize and reflect the need for renewed and strengthened global partnership for development.
➢ Thirdly, we also do not see Addis outcome reflected as Annex to this Agenda. The supportive role of the Addis outcome in the implementation of the Agenda could be captured in a paragraph without attaching whole outcome with the Agenda.
➢ Finally, it is our view that we might not be required to repeat the MOI goal and targets in this chapter on MOI if we draw clear linkages with Chapter 2 highlighting that Goal 17 and all the Goal Specific MOI targets in Chapter 2 provide the required set of MOI engagements and framework for the implementation of the Agenda. In any case we do not see a breaking away of the MOI goals and Targets from Chapter 2 as it very important for us to keep the set of goals and targets intact.
I thank you Co-facilitator
