Nepal
Intervention by Mr. Tara Prasad Pokharel, Joint Secretary, Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Nepal at the stock-taking session of the Inter-governmental negotiations on the Post-2015 Development Agenda (Declaration)
New York, 20 January 2015
(As delivered)
Mr. Co-facilitators,
My delegation associate my statement with those of the Group of 77 and China, LDCs, and LLDCs.
The unprecedentedly broader participation that the Post-2015 Development Agenda process has ensured also calls for a comprehensively ambitious and result-oriented political declaration.
As there is a general consensus for the agenda to be transformative in essence, it is essential that it also recognizes the specific needs and challenges of countries in special situation such as LDCs, LLDCs, and SIDS so that these countries that confront the most challenging circumstances get adequate support and inspiration in their sustainable development endeavors. This is the only way to make sure that they are not left behind.
I thank you.
