Malaysia
DRAFT STATEMENT ON REVISED TEXT FOR ADOPTIONAT THE INTERGOVERNMENTAL NEGOTIATIONS
ON SUSTAINABLE DEVELOPMENT GOALS AND TARGETS
NEW YORK, 23-27 March 2015
Examples of Approaches to Implementation of the SDGs at the National Level
Mr Co Facilitator,
Thank you for giving me the floor. We join other members in congratulating the co facilitators on this revised text.
Malaysia wishes to align itself to the statement by South Africa Group of 77 and China.
We wish to highlight several points:
1. We support the use of the shorter version of the preamble and the revised version of target 3.2
2. We request special attention to CBDR and the deletion of “principle 7” of para 12.
3. We would like to reiterate our support to the recognition of the specific challenges of the middle income countries and specific mention of this in para 60, as has been previously mentioned in our earlier statement.
4. Specifically, on para 25, we would like to highlight that the specific reference to the Rome Declaration on Nutrition is a new language in the text and we are not comfortable with this language. Thus we support Indonesia and Maldives in proposing that this specific reference be deleted and instead reference made to the Committee on World Food Security
I thank you again, Mr. Co-facilitators for giving me the opportunity to take the floor.
