My nane is Maria Christina Pacheco, I am a sugarcane farmer from Brazil, here representing
IFAP farmers. I am from a organization called ORPLANA in Brazil.
BIODIESEL ? The new green treasure
The Brazilian government launched the program so-call Social fuel Seal in 2005, a set of specific
measures intended to encourage social inclusion trough agriculture. This program gives the small
growers the opportunity to produce raw material for the Biodiesel industries.
Biodiesel is a liquid fuel derived from renewable biomass, which replaces totally or partially the
petro-diesel.
Brazil Biodiesel Program mandatory as of 2008 for the B2- mixture of Biodiesel represents an
approximate volume of 840 million litters of Biodiesel. For the B5 mixture, mandatory as of
2013, a volume of 2.6 billion litters a year is estimated.
Biodiesel is produced from a variety of raw material, such as castor bean, dende palm, soybeans,
peanuts, cotton, etc., animal fat, residual oil and fats.
