Group of Seven
Post-2015 Joint Sessions between FFD and post-2015, 27 April 2015
Follow-up and review on FFD and means of implementation
Group of 7 Statement
• I'm delivering this statement on behalf of Egypt, Liechtenstein, Norway, Pakistan, the Republic of Korea, Switzerland and my own country Peru.
• As our group of countries has expressed in previous sessions, the implementation of a transformative agenda will require a robust, inclusive and transparent review mechanism. We recognize that an efficient review mechanism will contribute to the achievement of the sustainable development goals.
• The review mechanism must be an integral part of the design of the post-2015 development agenda and its implementation framework.
• Our cross-regional group is currently working on more concrete elements with regards to the various aspects of the future review mechanism, which we would like to present during the May post-2015 session.
• However, in the context of the follow-up and review on FFD and means of implementation, we would like to outline today the following:
• We reaffirm General Assembly Resolution 67/290 with regards to the role of the high-level political forum on follow-up and review progress in the implementation of sustainable development commitments and objectives, including those related to the means of implementation, within the context of the post-2015 development agenda. It is our understanding that the follow up of Financing for Development should therefore feed into the overall review taking place in the HLPF.
• We look forward to further discuss the issue of follow-up and review with all member states in our workshop, which will take place in the morning of April 30, 2015. Invitations were sent out to all Permanent Missions.
