We would like to share our comments on the revised working document, in preparation for the May session of the Open Working Group. In this regard, we would like to stress the importance of livestock and reducing desertification for Africa.
We would like indicate that the reference of livestock and desertification has completely disappeared from this document. In this context, we would like to call for your attention to include the following amendments in the Focus area 2 d and Focus area 14 e in the next document .
Focus area 2. Sustainable agriculture, food security and nutrition
d) by 2030 achieve access to adequate inputs, knowledge, productive resources, financial services and markets for small farmers , pastoralists and fishers, with a particular focus on women and indigenous peoples
Taking in to consideration the direct role of livestock for food security we would like to propose the following additional new target :-
Support the development of science and technology to increase agricultural productivity and improved livestock production;

Focus area 14. Ecosystems and biodiversity
Protect and restore terrestrial ecosystems and halt all biodiversity loss
e)by 2030, reduce desertification by x% and achieve a land degradation neutral world.
