Green Economy Theme
15:00-18:00 PM
New York, 7 March 2011
Thank you, Mr. Chair. We associate ourselves with the statement by Nepal on behalf of the
Less Developed countries (LDCs) this morning and the statement by Argentina on behalf of
the G-77 and China on green economy. We will submit the answers to the seven questions
this morning.
Now my delegation would like to turn to a green economy theme regarding the seven
questions by identifying certain elements for the green economy theme in the context of
sustainable development and poverty reduction as follow:
1. Integrating green growth actions into development planning and natural resource
management with a strong support of policy and law on green growth initiatives and low
carbon bound initiatives; Senior Minister of Environment is implementing the project of
REDD-Plus (Reduced Emission from Degradation and Deforestoration) by national strategies
and efforts to preserve forestry in the country and the protected areas for access to carbon
credit market. The Senior Minister and the government have developed national green
growth road map
2. Broadening market access of the DVCs and LDCs on green products.
3. Building up green industrialization through large investments in environmentally friendly
products for the implementation of the green economy
4. Ensuring equitable trade among North-South, South-South cooperation and coordination
to well address issues of transition to green economy.
5. Promotion of Green education to raise capacity building for the Developing countries
and Less Developed countries.
6. Establishing green economy governance by enhancing corporate social and
environmental responsibility (CSER) and mainstreaming (10 YFP on SCP) the 10 Year
Framework Programme on Sustainable Consumption and Production into the green
economy processing
7. Increasing financial and economic cooperation in an integrated approach and holistic
approach in order for the DVCs and LDCs to well absorb green economy beneficial to better
management of natural resources, raising economic growth and the eradication of poverty
and at last achieving the MDGs goals.
8. Enhancing agricultural productivity from green economy policy and principles
9. Promoting synergies of thematic clusters of the CSD-18 and 19 for greening the economy.
We greatly thank Mr. Chair for stimulating the interactive discussions on green economy.
