Description
UNited For Youth Employment in Cambodia aims to increase decent and productive employment opportunities for young women and men. The programme assists the Royal Government of Cambodia in the implementation of national policies, including the National Employment Policy, in three areas: Access to quality formal and non-formal education including volunteerism to develop relevant technical and vocational skills. This includes the following activities: Conduct research on the macroeconomic effect of investment in education and skills development; Strengthen the certification system of TVET institutions; Develop quality market and industry-driven skills programmes; Launch labour market and volunteering programmes. Adequate entrepreneurial and business skills to create and develop sustainable enterprises. This includes the following activities: Expand entrepreneurship education modules to more secondary education institutions and TVET programmes; Offer business training for out-of-school youth; Strengthen business development services. Reduced risk of abuse and discrimination at work: This includes the following activities: Support government ministries with enhanced knowledge on youth rights at work; Inform youth about their rights and employment prospects; Provide in-factory literacy programmes; Scale up life skills and peer education programmes. The programme impacts government officials, local businesses and other stakeholders. The programme and its public-private partnerships promote gender equality and women’s economic empowerment. The programme closely involves private sector stakeholders and is designed based on lessons learned about the effectiveness of youth employment interventions. The programme is expected to be the first phase contributing to the larger framework of creating enabling conditions for decent work opportunities for young women and men in Cambodia.
