    Description

    FAO continues to support Members in the implementation of the Voluntary Guidelines for Securing Sustainable Small-Scale Fisheries in the Context of Food Security and Poverty Eradication, for inland and marine small-scale fisheries. This will be achieved through the development of National Plans of Action in at least 3 countries, capacity development and knowledge generation, and the continued support to Member’s institutional capacities to expand social protection systems and promote decent work in the fisheries sector. In the context of the International Year of Artisanal Fisheries and Aquaculture, FAO will engage with partners in awareness raising activities and campaigns on the contribution of small-scale fisheries and aquaculture to food security, sustainable food systems and will create a partnership platform.
