Description
Style Lounge Platform is a non-profit organization under patronage of Debonair Afrik. The platform seeks to build and promote young and emerging African fashion designers, brands, and businesses with a keen inclination towards sustainable and ethical fashion. Style Lounge Platform spotlights young and ambitious African fashion creatives and equips them with the right mix of entrepreneurial skills, business management, and innovative knowledge to start, scale-up and manage a fashion business. This is achieved through a series of masterclasses and workshops during our annual fashion-themed event Style Lounge Weekend which is also aimed at sustainability and ethicality in the fashion industry. We aim to build, and create a sustainable and ethically conscious African fashion industry.
Style Lounge Platform is committed to giving the needed exposure to young and emerging African fashion designers and aim to promote and aid these designers build successful businesses whiles being sustainable and ethical.
This is done by spotlighting and highlighting these designers on our social media, annual organization of the fashion event Style Lounge Weekend that provides the platform for these young and emerging designers to showcase their work.
Style Lounge Weekend also serves as an opportunity for fashion-business masterclasses and workshops for young and emerging fashion designers as well as fashion entrepreneurs.
Every year, during our fashion-themed event Style Lounge Weekend, there is a two-day session of a carefully curated masterclass or workshop centered around sustainable fashion-business.
These masterclasses or workshops brings together fashion-business experts who provide and share in-depth knowledge pertaining to running a sustainable fashion-business with young and emerging fashion designers and fashion entrepreneurs.
Style Lounge Platform is run by a team of 7 highly motivated and driven fashion forward professionals with a diverse skill set including curating fashion experience, fashion stakeholder managing, fashion editorials, fashion merchandising, fashion business management, advertising and campaigning, fashion project management. The team is also highly skilled in social media management and graphic design. In instances of special events, Style Lounge Platform typically leans on between 10 - 20 volunteers who complement and add up to productivity and realization of target goals and objectives.
Over the years, Style Lounge Platform has come to be recognized as the forerunner for promoting sustainable fashion in Ghana.
The platforms initiative Style Lounge Weekend has seen a steady increase participation by designers, entrepreneurs, and the creatives in and out of Ghana.
Style Lounge Platform has also been fundamental in nurturing designers. We have nurtured Steve French (currently a Junior Designer at Off-White and a Gucci Fellow), Attoh Tetteh, Larry Jay, Bello Couture, Sena Bryte.
