Public policy advocacy and influencing for realignment of child rights laws to the Constitution and child -friendly budgeting at local and national government level for budgetary allocations to social sectors such as health and education (in line with the Abuja and Dakar Declarations). lobbying and advocacy for comprehensive child rights laws that prevent child marriage, child labor sexual exploitation, sale, abduction, and trafficking of children. Coordinating civil society movement for the promotion of child rights through capacity building of various issues including child rights, child protection, child participation, advocacy, engagement with parliamentary processes, the national budget cycle and child -friendly budgeting. Capacity building of child-led groups in and out of school, junior councilors, and junior parliamentarians to advocate for issues that affect children including access to quality education, health, and other social services. Lobbying and advocacy regards disability inclusion in education. Coordination of child rights civil society organizations in CSO complementary reporting to treaty bodies such as the United Nations Committee on the Rights of Children (UNCRC), African Committee of Experts on the Rights and Welfare of the Child (ACERWC) and the Human Rights Council Universal Periodic Review. Joint monitoring with the Government on implementation of the concluding observations and recommendations from treaty bodies such as the UNCRC and ACERWC to state parties. Research and knowledge management for evidence-based advocacy on all child rights issues including violence against children and sexual exploitation. Raising awareness on child rights issues through media engagement and participation in coordination platforms that have been set up by the government and civil society organizations. Capacity building of child protection systems at community level - parents and children in communities to prevent, identify, report, and respond to violence against children. Creating platforms for children, parents/community members to participate in decision-making processes for increased transparency and accountability regarding child rights issues, national budget processes, and promoting improved access to services.
Expected Impact

Strengthening of the civil society movement in Zimbabwe to advocate for the protection and promotion of child rights in Zimbabwe; increased capacity of community-based child protection systems to identify, report and respond to violence against children, evidence of prioritization of child rights issues in public policy and law reform in Zimbabwe, increased participation of communities in promoting transparency and accountability in child rights policy-making and reform.
