Description

An intergenerational, multi-cultural, multisector collaborative project which engages communities learning about, discussing deeply, then artistically expressing quotes, facts and artistic images that tell stories about the UN SDG goal being discussed. The art is done on 8' x 5" vinyl posts that can then be displayed publicly or at a place where specifics of the goal are being worked on to remind and inspire individuals, communities, groups or organizations of the shared world vision. Each community will identify places of high visibility with the ability for viewers to take their time to engage with the posts.

Expected Impact

The staff of Posts for Peace and Justice will create and conduct the Atlanta workshops for the first set with a collaboration with our One Billion Rising Partners, including the City of Atlanta, the King Center, the National Center for Civil and Human Rights, the YWCA, etc. As we move into providing for international workshops the network at the Carter Center of the Human Rights Defenders will be utilized and well as the international OBR network. Suggested templates for the workshops will then be made available online and updated with new learnings from successes are achieved. The point will be to include all principles in each community that will be able to impact the goal or are significantly effected by it directly. It is important that this is inclusive and a valid representation of perspectives and backgrounds .

Capacity

Because the teams will consciously be chosen to represent cross sectors, and diverse backgrounds, the process involves sharing points of view and education around capacity for each player. The engagement process allows for integrated ideas to emerge as the perspective of each team member expands from deep listening of other team members. The process is and of itself capacity-building as the community learns it can catalyze itself through recognizing and understand the stakes each of the other community members are responsible for or effected by.

Governed

The staff of Posts for Peace and Justice will be handling the design and implementation of the workshops. There will be recommendations made as to what entities or roles need to be locally appointed to carry out successful projects - from team building, identifying and recruiting participants, and identifying who will be responsible in each community to identify and get approval, and install the posts in a highly visible areas for maximum impact.
