Description
Provide assistance to the population affected by the armed crisis which in turn will to improve the living conditions, dignity, and protection of vulnerable displaced persons in the South West region of Cameroon.
Methodological Approach
The projects will include but not limited to:
Shelter: Identified and assist beneficiaries through the provision of the shelter kits to enable displaced households living in makeshift shelters or foster families to improve the condition of their shelters and their living conditions.
Water, Hygiene and Sanitation: The assessments through identification of water points in communities of great need and their conditions alongside creating hygiene awareness to the population at risk as a result of overcrowding and those living in unhygienic conditions. Assessment of the living conditions will also be assessed in relation to lack of access to essential services, including clean drinking water (both in quality and quantity), and basic sanitation services (i.e., inadequate and unsecured latrines; open-air defecation; lack of menstrual and hygiene products for women and girls). The population with poor knowledge of water and vector-borne disease transmission will be sensitized on disease prevention.
Provision of latrine to households in communities
Hygiene promotion: hygiene promotion is carried out in households receiving the hygiene kits, Non Food Items (NFI) and shelters.
Awareness: focus on good hygiene practices, awareness-raising on COVID-19, and preventive measures and is done through home visits and group outreach. It is accompanied by information, education, and communication tools (posters in public places). An important component is the sensitization of women and girls of childbearing age on menstrual hygiene. It is accompanied by distributions of menstrual hygiene kits to target persons.
The outreach targets a minimum of 2500 individuals. Reconstruction
WASH
Awareness raised of the population that use safe water for drinking through a structured questionnaire;
Beneficiaries risk of contamination of covid-19 and other related diseases reduced due to knowledge on the critical hand washing times.
2500 displaced persons under project are using hygiene, COVID-19 kits and menstrual hygiene kits materials to prevent themselves from covid-19 and other related illnesses.
500 households easily dispose of their fecal waste using modern latrines. Reconstruction 1500 IDPs are sheltered under 375 low cost houses constructed in communities. Non Food Items (NFI), shelter kits integrated with COVID-19 kits and hygiene kits distribution activities,
Over 2500 people especially women, youth and the vulnerable affected household enjoy improved livelihood and reduced poverty.
