Description
The LEAP Project is an incubator program created for Emerging Fashion entrepreneurs in Africa, it is an intensive in-class training program, combined with mentorship and funding, where selected participants are tutored and mentored by seasoned business experts and professionals. The participants are taken on a journey of learning the key ingredients that contribute to establishing and sustaining a successful fashion business in Africa, at the end of the training, they are given an opportunity to pitch their business ideas, and the top selected participants get internship placements and mini-grants.
The Program curriculum covers business foundations, sustainable fashion ethics, and practice, Technology, and Innovation, Storytelling, and more.
The initiative is a six weeks project carried out using a hybrid system a combination of Digital x Physical sessions.50 fashion entrepreneurs are screened and selected out of hundreds of Applicants. The Initiative Starts with an Opening Day where selected participants connect and collaborate. Then classes begin, a mixture of Physical classes and digital classes, at the end of four weeks, the Top five chosen through various in class assessments are given a two weeks internship placement at Top Sustainable Fashion Houses in Lagos. At the end of the internship period, a pitch event is held and the Top three Fashion businesses get awarded mini grants worth $1600.
The capacity building sessions includes; - in class teaching by fashion professionals - case study sessions with successful fashion Designers - Internship placements in Top Sustainable Fashion establishments in Lagos Technology transfer; included in the curriculum of the incubation program is a session technology x fashion x innovation.
This initiative is governed by the Delivering organization Lhaude Africa and a group of Selected Directors and Partners.
