Description
The aforementioned relates to SDG 4 which is synonymous to Quality Education and one of Antigua and Barbuda’s priority goals. It includes but not limited to, ensuring equal affordable access for all ( women and men) in an educational facility that’s conducive for quality learning. It is also an initiative that will not only foster entrepreneurship either through training or through the institution’s presence for example in its surrounding environs.
This is all inclusive initiative that is dependent on a number of stakeholders including government, private, social organisations and the general public. Its implementation will required a structured approach towards consultation, negotiations, international standards and best practices, partnership, surveillance and monitoring.
The two key national entities include the Ministry of Education and the Ministry of Legal Affairs headed by the Minister of Education and the Attorney General respectively.
The anticipated impact of this SDG acceleration once completed will be profound. It spans 4 goals and the meeting of 7 targets. It is also anticipated that other interlinkages are possible including the real possibility of meeting additional targets. The key goal concerns SDG 4 which deals with ensuring inclusive and equitable quality education and the promotion of life long learning opportunities for all. Key targets that will be achieved with the success of the initiative:
* Equal access for all to affordable university education; and
*Increasing the overall and relevant skill sets of the youth and adults leading to the acquiring of employment, decent jobs and building the entreprenuership culture of the society.
Quality, affordable , accessible education for all on a whole is a key tenant towards alleviating poverty, generating economic growth and fostering innovation in a society.
