E.L.V. DENIM was founded by renowned fashion stylist Anna Foster in 2018. It is a pioneering British luxury brand dedicated to crafting timeless fashion pieces from 100% upcycled materials, breathing a second life into garments destined for landfill, and transforming loss into luxury. The brand began by releasing the signature contrast colour denim mid-seam jean, but has since expanded to include shirts, dresses and accessories, as well as a cotton collection made from upcycled textiles from luxury hotels. E.L.V. DENIM stands for East London Vintage, and all collections are both designed and produced locally in the British capital. This stems from the brand's passion for reducing the transcontinental transport usually involved in jean production, as well as supporting local businesses and economies, and ensuring manufacturers and craftspeople are paid fairly for their work.
E.L.V. DENIM's sustainable ethos is embedded across all the brand's platforms and offerings. E.L.V. DENIM ensures that all materials used in garment production are 100% upcycled via hand-sourcing conducted by members of the studio team. Every pre-loved item is inspected and assessed, ensuring it is used to its fullest potential, as opposed to employing a standardised approach to garment making; furthermore, textile scraps are utilized and transformed into crochet accessories, as well as into paper, utilized for both label making and the making of envelopes and cards. Besides utilizing the hand-sourced textile stock to its fullest potential, E.L.V. DENIM also partners with other luxury fashion retailers and takes on their deadstock to create 100% upcycled capsule collections, with some of these being Swarovski, Gabriella Hearst, The Outnet, Hyundai, and Liberty London. These collaborations promote the brand's sustainable ethos across outside multichannel platforms and applies pressure on other luxury retailers to give new life to previously discarded fabric and garments.
E.L.V. DENIM is active on multiple social media channels (Instagram, Facebook, TikTok) and actively puts out educational content on fashion waste reduction, the benefits of upcycling and the importance of shifting the luxury fashion sphere towards a more ethical and sustainable future. Furthermore, E.L.V. DENIM founder Anna Foster, is often featured in in interviews, profiles and articles, where she reiterates the importance of the aforementioned values upheld by the brand. Additionally, E.L.V. DENIM and its products are regularly featured in known fashion publications such as Vogue, Bazaar, The Guardian, and more, furthering the reach of the brand's influence and promoting ethical and sustainable consumption in non-sustainability centred media, ensuring upcycling makes its way into popular media.
We operate through direct-to-consumer sales on our website and wholesale partnerships with retailers worldwide. To expand our wholesale business, we collaborate with small boutiques, fostering a sense of community and building closer relationships. For our direct-to-consumer growth, we focus on nurturing strong connections within our community by hosting events that emphasize sustainability, well-crafted garments, and our pioneering efforts in upcycling within the fashion industry. Additionally, we partner across industries to help larger companies manage their waste or excess stock, transforming what was once a cost or waste into a profitable resource
