CLIM ECO Program
Description
The Association Française du Froid (French Refrigeration Association), pilots the program and ensures coordination between the partners, industrialists, users and the administration. Governance is based on a national steering committee in which the State, the AFF, the funders and the partners participate. This committee is divided at the regional level for the Indian Ocean, West Indies and French Guiana zones. Between the committees, the development and deployment actions provided for in the programme and described in the agreement signed with the State will be carried out by a cross-cutting committee of the AFF. This AFF thematic commission has the responsibilities set out below. Its chairman participates in the national and regional Copil. The programme covers training objectives for 3000 professionals trained to reach households, marking of 120,000 air conditioning equipment for the 5 departments. The deliverables (information support, internet information infrastructure) could be shared with other initiatives or serve as a case study for other hot countries. As the AFF is the pilot for the organisation in France of the IIF's International Cold Day in 2023, an international audience favourable to the pooling of benefits and the dissemination of good practices resulting from the project could be widely mobilised to contribute to the sustainable development objectives concerned.
CLIM'ECO is based on three pillars: training professionals in eco-practices, dynamic marking of equipment and user information. The aim is to raise awareness, inform and train households, local authorities and companies in the French Overseas Departments and Territories on how to make better use of air-conditioning in order to save energy. 3,000 air-conditioning professionals will receive training and the marking of nearly 120,000 air-conditioning or heat pump devices will promote eco-responsible use.\r\n\r\nCLIM'ECO is managed by the French Refrigeration Association, a non-profit organization in charge of the cold chain and air conditioning industries (see: www.aff-froid.com). The AFF association will cooperate with training centres, representatives of manufacturers such as Uniclima to develop best practices in the maintenance and use of air conditioning in tropical countries such as the French overseas departments. The financing of the actions is carried out by two energy providers ENGIE and Vivo Energy Réunion (ENGEN) within the framework of the French regulatory system of energy saving certificates. The project is supervised by a steering committee in which the French government, the environment agency and the programme partners participate.The International Institute of Refrigeration, of which the AFF is a member, is also a partner to make the link with feedback from or to other territories.
